Complete trash. This school has little support for students with any sort of disability and a huge bullying problem they would rather not address but often reward. Its been this way for years and is only getting worse. My kid won't even use the bathrooms there for fear of getting attacked by the smokers. Teachers don't respond to problems, just blankly stare. Administration chooses to keep it's head comfortably buried in the sand.

Poorly. It seems like schools in the city prioritize having a level of excellence and it’s less important here.

We recently moved from Roseville. Our kids loved their old schools and were disappointed to find out they would be attending with elementary grades despite being in 6th and 8th grade. Perhaps the families that grew up here don't know better, but the older grades should be treated with more respect and independence and should not be succumb to pre-school methods of discipline over things that in my mind are typical behaviors of pre-teens and teens. The limited communication I have received from the school has been about booster club, school pride and discipline. Hardly anything about educating the kids. I know my kids aren't perfect, but I feel they should have some flexibility and that the teachers should take more responsibility for talking with the kids about disruptions or behavior issues and not just having them pull a "card." Not a single person I spoke to recommended this school when we moved here. Unfortunately we are unable to choose a different school at this time or we would.

My two children have gone from Kindergarten to 8th grade at this school, and have loved every teacher. When my 8th grader had a medical issue this year, her homeroom teacher actually came to our house with her work, and a poster that her classmates and all her teachers had signed. Dr. Simon is wonderful as the Principal/Superintendent. He has increased both academic and extra-curricular activities and started new traditions such as family picnics and having each class adopt and learn about a college or university. Student successes are celebrated each month in school assemblies called Bulldog Blasts. Go Bulldogs!

Awesome school with great teachers and staff. My kids have had a great experience and like to go to school. I would definitely recommend this area to live and send your kids to an excellent school.

Colfax Elementary has SUCH a "family" feel to it! Most of the parents know the students and the students really take care of each other! My 2nd grader high fives his 6th grade buddies at the end of the day and it really makes him feel "big". The teachers truly care about the students and their achievement. They really won't leave anyone behind. The new Principal/Superintendent is SPECTACULAR! He's been there 2 years now, and he engages his staff and students and truly wants to make CES "the place to be". They've seen huge growth in test scores, PE scores and enrichment courses since Dr. Simon has been there! The new Director of Student Services has made the special education program at CES top notch. I couldn't ask for anything more for my 2 kids.

We have had problem after problem with this school, and the problems are unique to this school. If I had to do it over again I would enroll somewhere else. Literally anywhere else would work fine. I vote no, the issues are consistent and plentiful.

This School is Awesome. My oldest daughter went to school in Sacramento while growing up but my youngest is in her second year at Colfax and the difference between the Schools in Sacramento vs Colfax is like night and day. Colfax Elementary is a beautiful school with amazing teachers. Mrs. Quayle is just the best and Mrs. Van Matre, I adore her. They really care about the kids and they get a lot of attention and the staff is very personable. It's nice that they remember my name when I walk in, I feel like my kid is not spending her days with strangers. It's a great school.
