I have 2 children who attended this school from kindergarten through 4th grade. It has been such an amazing school experience for both of them. Their experiences with all teachers in every grade have been overwhelmingly positive. You couldn't find a warmer learning environment. It's such a lovely community of families as well - diverse yet cohesive. We continually feel so lucky to have moved to Closter and to be a part of this school community.

We moved to Closter last year because our youngest son went to pre-K special education pre-K. It was just perfect for him. We now have two boys there in 2nd grade and Kindergarten. They both enjoy going to school and it seems that they learn almost with no effort. There is practically no stress with tests and homework, yet they make great progress. Also, the teachers and staff are very friendly and easy to work with.

My 5th grader attended Hillside from K-4 and my 8 year is now a 3rd grader there. My children have always looked to forward to going to school. They never complain about the work or the staff and actually enjoy their time there. The curriculum is top notch and the educators respect their students and educate in an innovative and fun atmosphere.

On Saturday, July 27th, Hillside Elementary hosted a wonderful camp for the children entering Kindergarten this September. The children played together in the playground, made sand art projects and decorated key chains. Older children volunteered to help the kindergarteners pick out, and put on tattoos and there were plenty of refreshments. The children were able to play with new friends and had an opportunity to get acquainted with the surroundings. Parents were able to meet school staff and also other parents. It was a wonderful, much appreciated event!

A wonderful school! The teachers are very dedicated. 2 of my 3 children have been through these schools. I find the teachers very dedicated and competent. The principle is approachable and prompt in his responses and in addressing any parent concerns. The teachers do a great job of identify the child's strength and weaknesses and address them effectively. Overall a wonderful school with good teachers and staff.
