Every child deserves more than a "decent" shot at a great education. Reguardless of their race, religion OR emotional challenges or other special needs they may have! Bullying and swearing have been a problem in schools, decades before mainstreaming special needs children was even considered! If we do not allow them to be mainstreamed are we saying they are not allowed to be apart of society? What makes us any better than them? Why shouldn't they be taught how to function and be a part of this world! As I said before, bullying and swearing are a part of school and the real world. It isn't just speacial needs children who are out offending you and your non-emotionally challenged children. This is a fact. But, It is not Garner Elementary staffs fault that they are not adequately staffed to handle these special needs children when they become "difficult". I am in agreeance that NO child should be bullied by another student whether they be a special needs student or not! Garner Elementary NEEDS more specially trained staff to handle the new generation of emotionally challenged children that are entering the school. This problem will only get bigger in the years to come.

The only positive post I see are from parents who have kids with disabilities, anger issues, etc. I agree with the post about the general education students mixed in too much with "special needs" kids, ie kids with anger issues, severe ADHD, etc. My poor daughter has learned so many nasty words, been spit on, stepped on at the playground (which is still not supervised very well), and pinched by bully "special needs" kids. Enough is enough with this mainstreaming. When is it time for the non-emotionally challenged children to have a shot at a decent education??????

My name is Glen A. Garner, and I would like to know how this school got its name. I live in Long Beach, California, and was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. I am presently 60 years old and am very interested in knowing more about a school which has my name. Thank you.
