My extremely active son who has major focus issues, has been warmly received and the staff has taken great care to find his individual learning needs. Katie Mitchell is a fantastic principal who takes the time to talk with parents, and is very concerned for her teaching staff as well. We have often thought of moving out of Michigan, but it will have to wait, as we are not willing to give up Edgerton Elementary. I am very happy with this school.

Without hesitation- a 5 star rating! I've had 3 children go through Edgerton- and have always loved their experience collectively. With 3 kids- I can personally say our family has probably had 60-70% of the teachers there- or some sort of student/teacher relationship. MANY of them could be/should be nominated for teacher of the year. They're fantastic and they really care about the kids as priority number one. Mrs. Mitchell, the principal, is great! If there's a concern, she responds timely, appropriately, consistently, and thoughtfully. She knows the students- each one by name- and goes over and above in situations where students are having a difficult time- both personally and academically. The Clio community is BETTER for having her as part of it. In response to the safety question marks left previously- I had thought similarly several years that it seemed like it was too 'wide open' but I'd say that was thoroughly resolved about 4 years ago- and safety is addressed in every way I've seen.

Edgerton is a fantastic school! The environment is so friendly! Every time I enter the school I am greeted with smiles. I feel my children could not be in a safer environment on a daily basis other than their home! the teachers are so fantastic. The education they receive is phenomenal and Katie Mitchell the principal is so personable and involved. Its truly the best school in my mind. I consider the school my "happy place." You cant help but feel happy when being around the teachers and staff!

Teachers are great. My daughter went here for a few years before we moved to another district. She only had good teachers who cared about her and wanted to make sure she succeeded. I wish we hadn't moved cause I haven't found a place since like Edgerton.

Amazing teachers and staff!!! My only complaint is the pick-up procedure in the afternoons. They have an ideal parking lot for a more appropriate car rider pick-up procedure to be in place but instead, dozens of adults (hopefully parents but who can keep track in all the chaos) freely enter the building and only one door is monitored. It is an open invitation for something bad to happen. They currently hand out cards to allow permission for the guardian to leave the building with the child, but again, there are doors elsewhere in the building that are not monitored. Eliminating parents entering the building everyday in droves and putting in place a safer parent pick-up procedure is a must. The new principal does not seem very receptive to new suggestions. As far as teaching goes, you can't get better teachers! I just hope they take a step back and realize their safety practices are severely antiquated.

My comments are in reference to a parent comment posted on Feb. 20, 2011. A. C. Edgerton does not have preschoolers in our building. A group of 4 year olds are bused to the Edgerton parking lot and then board another bus, which takes them to our Early Elementary School. Every morning 4 employees are outside for bus duty when our 7 buses arrive. Two of the employees are there to make sure the 4 year olds get off one bus and go to the next bus, which is usually right next to it. Both bus drivers are also vigilantly watching the 4 year olds proceed from one bus to the next. My philosophy is a school is built to reach and teach each child, each day, however, our #1 job is to keep our students safe. Edgerton is a single entry and exit building. We have security cameras posted in many places and in the office we have cameras that the secretary and I can constantly observe or change location through our handheld remote. At Edgerton we welcome visitors, however, NO ONE may enter and just visit without warning. Any adult entering must proceed immediately to the office, sign in, show identification and put on our large, orange visitor pass. If someone would enter without warning and just roam around the building 911 would be called and immediately we would go into a lockdown. I believe this comment is not factual.

I visited to decide what to do. The principal is amazing, although when she was gone one day, there was a lot of chaos when I went into the building. The children were all over the halls and it was a bathroom time for some, and then there were some doing other things. The problem I saw was that preschoolers were getting off the bus with no one around. Dangerous and not very safe. It is a great learning environment I'm sure, but this day, it could have been disastrous. Don't just go by what you read, go visit without warning and see for yourselves. Maybe it was just a bad moment or time in the day. Obviously the boss was gone. I would consider putting children at this school. It wasn't a total bad thing that's why I gave an average rating.

Moving from a southern region, we were apprehensive about moving north and what the people and schools might be like in comparison. We have been pleasantly surprised with A.C.Edgerton! The teachers, staff, principal, parents, and volunteers are all very involved, polite, and considerate. The exact opposite of what we expected. The children are all very well rounded and welcoming. My children couldn't be happier! An amazing school and school district, AND TOWN!!! I wish we could have moved here years ago! The principal is involved in ways I have never heard of, the teachers welcome open communication and always have the childs best interest at heart, and the office staff is always on top of things and very considerate. I couldn't be happier!
