Oakmont has been such a wonderful experience for our family. I think the school doesn't get enough credit compared to other schools in the district. The school campus is large and focuses on the outdoors. Teachers are very nurturing and engaged with their students. The PFA does a wonderful job to bring school and families together. A big shout out to the BLAST teachers, who make the after school program so much fun and a home away from home!

Not a good learning environment. Lack of responsiveness. Bullying. Poor communication. Annual turnover of principals and all careless Bad test scores. The worst school in CUSD . A lot of green new teachers who are careless and work for the benefits and to educate our kids …. Sadly but true

We love the small school atmosphere that Oakmont offers. The teachers and principal are always available when issues arise. Lot's of wonderful kids at this school as well. They don't offer much homework which is a plus or minus depending on how you feel about homework. Mostly reading and spelling.

I have not experienced bully in the 2 years my son has attended this school so I cant comment on it. I really like this school as the teachers and staff are very helpful and dedicated to personal growth. My son struggles with school work and we have had so many additional resources added on to support his learning and meeting his goals. We meet every 4 months or so. I also like how ethnically diverse this school is compared to the other CUSD school. It is refreshing to see that my child can attend a school with a mixture of people - some look like him and some dont. It would be nice to see more diversity in ethnicity is the teachers and more male teachers too. But this is the norm in CUSD school. All in all I really like this school and expect to keep my child here till he finishes elementary school.

I am a parent whose child is in their 2nd year at Oakmont. He attended Kinder and 1st and we are looking forward to many more years at this little school. Oakmont serves a diverse population and that should be applauded. The other elementary schools in CUSD run away from accepting inter district transfer students who may be economically disadvantaged or ESL students. Fpor our family, we wanted our child to be exposed to students who may not look like him or have the same socio-economic background as him. It is a bit shameful that other schools in the district do not promote having a diverse school population. We researched all the elementary school in the district and chose this one because of its promotion of outdoor living and environmental studies.

I'm a new parent with a TK attending this year 2014-2015 school year...and I couldn't be any happier with my TKs Teachers..they've been kind and on point of my TKs education..Staff is very friendly..but I'm torn to say my only negative is the teachers in the upper grade are teaching two grade levels in their classrooms..I'm so undecided if I should keep my TK in Oakmont or send her to Condit..a parents decision for their child to have the best education can be overwhelming!

My child began attending Oakmont at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. This little school is fantastic. I could not be happier with my child's learning progress and personal growth. The teachers and staff are fantastic.

This is a good school, teachers are very helpful as well. A lot of communication with parents and students. Get involved in lot of creative and interesting activities that will help the kids in their lifetime in the real-world. Never had these golden opportunities when I attended grade school. Great school for a child to remember during childhood.

WOW! An estimated API of 861 (official scores are out in Oct.)! They had an 88 point increase from last year. That is amazing! This is the "little school that could" because nothing seems to stop them from pressing on in spite of challenges. The parent who complained of bad test scores has nothing to complain about now...

Don't be fooled by one crazy families review. Everyone knows at least one or two people who are never happy. I have had three kids go through Oakmont who have had over half the teachers for their instruction. I have also had a chance to volunteer and spend time in several classrooms and overall, I have been very impressed. The instruction, support and assistance my kids have received has exceeded my expectations. No school is perfect, but Oakmont's teachers, staff and administration is doing a pretty darn good job.
