Don’t trust what you read on Great Schools, their data for demographics is very out of date, more than 3 years old. They don’t keep this site up to date. This is a great school, I’m a parent of a student.

Amazing school, cannot say enough great things about it. My daughter just finished Kindergarten there and we've been very impressed. Highly engaged and supportive teachers and principal. Great neighborhood school on a beautiful campus connected to the park. Highly recommend sending your kids here!

Our little one just completed her first year at Chappell, kindergarten. We couldn’t be more pleased with our experience and LOVE our principal and staff.

Chappelle, the school district, and the whole area have become a top tier community to rival the best of the North Side. The kids love it. We feel they are very safe during school (and walking to and from) and seem supported at all times.Great community school.

Chappell is a treasure- the community is so welcoming and supportive, the educators are exceptional and the students are growing into smart and compassionate members of society. We feel so blessed that our neighborhood school is such a gem. My child learned how to play two instruments this year because of the outstanding commitment to music and the arts at Chappell. They also had a terrific musical and the Art show featured such incredible creativity and skill. The teachers are so hardworking and gifted and we have felt our child was cared for every single year. Chicago gets a lot of misinformed judgement hurled our way and CPS and the Mayor has a lot of work to do to ensure our children remain safe, supported and educated- but Chappell is a shining example of everything that is right with our children, teachers and schools.

We moved to the neighborhood for this school. It is well organized and has a very active community and fun fundraisers. I appreciate the teachers and language program as well as the commitment to academic excellence.

We've been really happy at Chappell - the staff are caring, thoughtful, and supportive of the students. The teachers are engaged and committed to the kids and making sure they make progress. We like the limited homework policy. The aftercare program could use improvement but it seems better this year than it was in prior years (now that they are able to use the playground). I would choose Chappell again, if I were to make the decision over again.

We moved to the neighborhood for this school. Overall we’ve been impressed. It’s a great community and my son has learned a lot. I wish they would ge them outside for recess daily however. My son who is in kindergarten complains daily that he doesn’t get outside regularly.

Wonderful parent community. The Friends of Chappell group has done an awesome job with fundraising and bringing extra opportunities to the children of this school.

I have a child in kindergarten and a child in preschool at Chappell. Both are thriving! It is a wonderful community of teachers, parents, students, and has strong leadership.

If you are looking for a quality education, where students feel safe and cared for, Chappell is the place! Teachers are great at reaching out to parents and are always available before and after school to meet with students or parents. The school is also located in a great neighborhood. I feel lucky to be part of the Chappell community!

Please proceed with caution if you are considering this school. My child and others were bullied and teachers/staff looked the other way. They seem more concerned about how well the school will rate and less about doing their job. They do have a few nice and helpful teachers but unfortunately still a part of the bureaucracy.

My sister, husband, even mother in law and I all attended Chappell growing up. We all went there from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I wanted my kids to go Chappell but we moved out of the city. I did have bad experiences with a few teachers as a child but there were also other great teachers at that school. I felt safe there. Every door was secure. I was in honor roll for a while. I truly loved Chappell. I graduated 8th grade in 2005. Some of my old teachers are still there too!

This school is really good i just transferred my son here after having a bad experience at another north side school. He has excelled in reading and grammar, also he is learning spanish. The only downside is they don't focus on the arts something I think all schools should balance out into there curriculum. However we feel that he is getting a good push on his organization, reading, and comprehension to go into the next level.

The teachers at this school are good but if you are a working parent the Principal does not believe in after school programs. I have tried in a very nice way to get the sports for the Jr. High Boys after school (he has them in the morning) but Principal has gone so far to discredit me and will harass your child if you speak up for yourself.
