We transferred in for junior high and our experience has been wonderful! They are able to challenge students who are excelling and provide extra support for those who need it. The IB curriculum is great, creating more project based learning experiences for students, which is a more effective way for student learning.

I want to love this schoolBecause of its diversity but it’s just not good enough. If you are a follower you will do well but if you have any special needs you won’t be supported.

Overall, Belding is a good school. Of course, it could always use some improvements......but they are doing their best.I Support Belding. Teachers (as a whole) deserve a lot of credit, the staff as well.I'd like to give a shout out to Mark Caldwell (Security officer) and Ms. Gladys. Thank you for everything you do.

This seems like an outdated rating. Belding will have a new IB program starting in 2019 and is rated Level 1+ by the CPS Performance Policy.

We love Belding!! Our son has been attending for 7 years and every year has been better than the previous. Principal is great, all the teachers are very nice and helpful. Kids are great and they get along just fine, never had any issues with bullying. It is an awesome community! So happy to be living in this neighborhood and being part of Belding family.

Our family couldn't be happier with our experience at Belding Elementary. The teachers are supportive, caring, and differentiate to meet students' needs. They are communicative, helpful and truly care about their students. The principal is engaged and present within the school. She greets students at the door nearly every day, knows each student by name, and discusses NWEA test results with students individually. The school truly feels like a community where diversity is respected and embraced. I love that my kids can go to a school that reflects the diversity of Chicago.

Belding has been an excellent fit for our family. We have been at the school for three years and currently have two children who attend. The fall and spring before our oldest began kindergarten we did an extensive amount of research on schools and ultimately chose Belding. When we toured in the spring before our child began kindergarten we could tell that this was a caring, kind and welcoming community that values children and families, as well as every person who works at the school. Additionally the strong emphasis on teaching children reading, writing and math in a way that is not skill and drill but more focused on taking students at their current level and challenging them to grow and develop through higher level thinking skills was also a factor in choosing Belding. Since being at the school with our two children we have worked with multiple teachers and have found them all to be excellent educators who are passionate about their craft. Belding also has a very high retention rate of teachers, which speaks to the climate and culture at the school. The leadership at the school is equally as impressive. Both Principal Yutzy and Assistant Principal Dr. Singleton are kind, accessible, and willing to go the extra mile for their students, staff, and families. The school is incredibly diverse, both socioeconomically and racially, which in our opinion is an asset. We are proud to be a part of this community and look forward to many more years to come at Belding! !

Everything is a fund raiser. Teachers are constantly asking for money from parents for "Donors Choose Projects". While the principal is supportive of parental efforts for the school, it really only seems that your children will be fully supported if your family is heavily involved with volunteering with the school or fund raising. We've pulled our children out of this school and sent them to a private school. Seems that a school that doesn't legally have to follow a 504 plan, has no issue with getting it done (same classroom headcount). Also, instead of being nickel and dimed to death throughout the school year with fundraisers, we paid tuition and gave an additional $300 upfront at registration. We're much happier and both of our kids are doing so much better.

We are so grateful that Belding is our neighborhoos school. Our daughter has excelled academically and the school priorotizes healthy social-emotional development. We love the racial and economic diversity and inclusivity of the community. Lots of opportunities for parents to get involved, no matter their work schedule. Twice weekly Arabic classes, art and dance classes, and an actual professional librarian make the school curriculum unique from other options in the area. Good after-school options for working parents. The principal and teachers truly care about the students and families.

We are thrilled to be a part of the Belding family. The schoolHas a wonderful sense of community. Ms. Yutzy is transparent, engaged, and accessible. She tries very hard to create an enthusiastic environment. Belding is incredibly diverse and the school celebrates this. My daughter will be entering 2nd grade. She been there since KG and loves it.

my son went there and it was an awesome experience..i also dealt with the staff with spiritwear and they always made sure that the parents/kids could afford it and made sure they also had a great experience there...wonderful school that seems to get overlooked by some large 'name' schools in the area...

My son's kindergarten experience at Belding was fantastic. We are very pleased at how well his reading and writing have progressed. Most importantly, he is learning how to think and loves to tell us about what he has learned. The school is very child-focused and welcoming to parents. The Principal and Local School Board are dedicated to continuous quality improvement and student growth. As a neighborhood school, all children are welcome and that sense of community is reflected in the culture. Our family fully recommends Belding Elementary.

My child is not being as challenged as she could be and the teachers didn't much about it.

As a pastor, I have volunteered in a wide variety of schools through the years. I can say that Belding Elementary is truly outstanding as a place where great creativity is used to engage students. The care for students and their families is wonderful to see. This school maximizes community involvement and limited resources in ways that continue to make a positive impact on the students, families, and the community.

Being a former teacher myself, I was very picky and critical about the school I chose for my son. After attending a Local School Council meeting and doing a school tour, I had a really good feeling about the school so I chose to send my son there for Kindergarten. Now I have two young kids attending and I am very happy with the decision I made almost 3 years ago. The teachers and the principals are always striving to find the best, brain-based ways of teaching. I am especially excited about the new writing curriculum they adapted last year. It's amazing!! Belding is truly a community school. Every time I walk into the school, I feel the community.

Belding is a safe, wonderful school with fun teachers and students! Test scores at Belding continue to be among the highest in the city and continue to improve each year due to excellent teachers and instruction. Belding has a nice playground and soccer field.
