This school is in a desirable neighborhood, but it has many social flaws. It also fails special needs students.

With 2 kids at this school, and previously a homeschool family, the kids had no problems adjusting and love going to school every day. Love the community and small town feel. Wouldn't want them anywhere else.

I love the teachers and all other staff members. This school makes you feel as though your children are enrolled in a private school. All staff members know your name and speak to you with a great smile. My children are always cared for and their education is top priority. I absolutely love this school.

This is a wonderful school! It is a relatively small school (about 400 kids in all grades), so the teachers and staff really get to know each child. There is a great sense of community with lots of parent involvement, family nights, and a Watch Dog program where dads and granddads help in the building each day. The teachers are top-notch; they incorporate many Montessori teaching methods and they do their best to help each child learn at his/her own pace. They have quality music, PE, and technology lessons. We chose to live here because of all the recommendations we got for the Hickory Schools and I am so glad we did! Highly recommend!

I love this school. I have 5kids that currently attend here, and they all love their teachers so much they cried when the school year ended.

H.E.S. is a dream school! My son has attended H.E.S. for three years and has had three outstanding, professional and caring teachers who have instilled in him genuine academic curiosity as well as fostered a love of and excitement for learning. The electives teachers (particularly P.E.) are also highly creative and amaze me with the lessons/ activities that they plan for my son's class. The administration and PTA also work diligently and succinctly in order to create and maintain high standards and fun activities for the students.

Awesome staff at this school! My daughter was/is struggling in the first grade and Mrs. Pinello on down have been nothing if not encouraging and helpful in reaching a goal to get her on track to graduate to second grade! Communication is top notch and the classroom environment perfect! If you are enrolling your child in this school, they are in good hands!
