I will say that everyone is very kind: every administrator, teacher, bus driver, etc.But if you care about an education, this school (and all of ACPS) has really fallen flat in recent years. Even before the pandemic, the school was frequently closed for a variety of reasons: teacher work days, administrative days, a handful of snowflakes, etc. Good luck scheduling around that. Your child will be home all the time. Yesterday, school was closed due to rain. I understand some students live in more rural areas and along rural roads. I firmly believe that accommodations could be made to protect them (and the bus drivers!) while enabling the other 95% to attend school! To make matters worse, they're trigger happy with IEPs and pulling children out of the classroom. If you need special assistance, good luck getting it addressed so your child actually learns. But they've done the exact opposite with the Gifted and Talented program. That program has been diluted into ineffective mush. Apparently it's embarrassing to pull children out for Gifted and Talented programs but just fine to pull them out if they're "different." But wait, learning? Educating? Isn't that what a school is designed to do? Nah, none of that happens. Hope you want your child to play the "education edition" of Minecraft all day! Because they certainly aren't learning the months of the year... Do you want your child to have the most basic grasp of history or science? Go somewhere else, they'd be better off watching PBS documentaries all day.The pandemic, of course, made everything worse. Did your kid sit next to someone for 15 minutes who later tested positive for COVID? Guess they wont be at school for two weeks! Don't worry, you can get a negative COVID test for them and they can return after...10 days of quarantine. To make matters worse, they give you NOTHING when the kid is out of school. Well, they did give us one worksheet...and the laptop...with which they are apparently expected to fill their days playing pathetic math games that teach them nothing. They clearly have no plan in place when they kick healthy kids out of the classroom despite us having well over a year and a half to get used to this "new normal."I wish I could afford private school. I wish we could all afford private school. I have to work so we can't home school and this is the best we can do. Our children deserve better. And to anyone reading this? Your children deserve better too.

We were brand new to the Charlottesville area. My husband visited the school in order to have our questions answered. From the moment we arrived at Stone Robinson, we immediately felt like we were joining a very large family, and just a school. The staff, students and faculty are all superior people. Our children are thriving academically, socially and emotionally.

My husband and I moved our family to be in the Stone-Robinson district. Our children are supported and challenged at Stone-Robinson. Teachers are dedicated and wrap around the students like family.

Please visit the Virginia Department of Education's webpage and view our school's Quality Profile for the most up to date information regarding test results and state accreditation. The information presented on this site is not current and does not reflect that we've just completed our 3rd year of full state accreditation and excellent assessment results. Thank you and don't hesitate to reach out to us at the school or stop by for a visit! http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/stone-robinson-elementary#fndtn-desktopTabs-accountability

We decided to move our 2 children from private school to Stone Robinson three years ago. We were a little worried about the lower than average test scores in the district, however our kids have thrived there. They have had excellent teachers each year and really love their school and the community. I would highly recommend the school.

I have been a parent at Stone-Robinson for 11 years and it has been an amazing experience. My children has always been challenged academically and their social needs have always been met. The environment is very loving and supportive. I will miss not being a parent of an SRE student after this school year.

I was so surprised to see the low school rating score this year because our experience at Stone Robinson has been outstanding. I have special needs kiddo and was very nervous about sending him to public school at first. However, my worries melt away quickly. The care and attention that we have received was beyond my expectation. Their genuine love and care towards the students made us feel belong. Issues were taken seriously and addressed promptly. My son has moved faster in the subject area where he could. Definitely tailored teaching based on the individual level. It is heartbreaking to think about moving away. We would have not if we could.

Stone Robinson Elementary School is a wonderful learning environment and provides a great foundation for the next learning level. It garners tremendous neighborhood/community support through the parent/grandparent Book Buddy program and the participation, in general of the local parents council.

Stone Robinson has enjoyed a good reputation in the past. Unfortunately, with new administration in place, the school is not what we expected. There is a lack of transparency with not only Stone Robinson administration but also also Albemarle County School Board. This school is on academic warning which may be due to the inhospitable environment for learning created by the never ending head lice outbreaks that NO ONE is notified about until their own child finally bring this home to the entire family. Save your money and buy a cheaper house somewhere else as you will need to pay for a private school instead of attending the local public school if you move to Albemarle County . Do not move here for the "great schools". That time is gone

Stone Robinson is an outstanding school. We moved from Texas and were accustomed to well equipped schools and caring teachers. We found even better in Virginia. The teachers and staff were very attuned to the needs of both of our children who are very different. No attempts to shoe horn them into a pre-conceived model. Other schools in the county we toured seemed older and in need of more attention. The testing scores for the school seem too low compared the coursework that our children are bringing home. Either there are some folks on the low end keeping the average down, or the testing results are lagging the current enrollment. The homes in the area are a much better value than you find in the western area of the county.

Stone Robinson has exceeded my expectations from the moment we moved into the area. Although not rated as highly as schools on the western side of the county, I would never consider leaving SRE. The staff and teachers are incredibly nurturing, yet firm with the students. With two children in the school, one with special needs, I ve been astonished every year at the personalized attention that we have received, the accomodations offered and the speed and responsiveness to any special issues that inevitably come up in any school. They are both performing at very high levels, thanks in part to the rigorous focus on the reading curriculum and reading incentive programs. I would highly recommend this school to any family, even over a private school. The school community is wonderful, the principal is one of the best men I ve ever met, and the PTO is a huge driving force in many great activities and programs. Finally, its close proximity to presidential homesteads makes for great field trips!

A fabulous school with a caring principal. When our family moved to the area, I thought I wanted Western Ablemarle schools, after talking to parents, we decided to give SRE a try and I'm glad we did. SRE is like a close knit family. The teachers work hard to make sure all children succeed, it doesn't matter if your child has special needs or is high acheiving. All find a home at SRE and are challenged to reach their potential. The school also boasts great art, music and enrichment programs thanks in part to the PTO, which has a strong presence at the school and an excellent track record for raising funds for programs typically only found at private schools. A recent area of concern is test scores for GAP students, which the staff is working hard to improve.
