The admin at this school is awful. The principal, Angela Grant, is one of the poorest leaders I have ever worked for. There is no consistency with expectations of teachers or students and zero support to implement the decisions she makes on a whim. She is extremely out of touch with what’s happening in our classrooms. She is unable to handle being questioned about any of the decisions she makes and never accepts responsibility for anything. There is a very high turn over rate of teachers at this school and it is solely because of the “leadership”. They have failed teachers and students every step of the way. While the admin seems to have good intentions, they have no idea how to lead. The students and teachers are fantastic and deserve so much more than they have been receiving at this school. Most teachers at this school are incredibly hard working and passionate about what they do.

I have been a teacher at Winterfield for many years. I have watched as the school has grown and changed. Our current leadership has worked hard for our students and teachers. Teachers are held to high expectations by leadership and strive to do the best for our students. Leadership provides professional development to teachers that enhances our instructional practice. Students are the cornerstone of our school, they are the small bright lights that make coming to work a joy. Winterfield teachers work hard to provide an exceptional education for our students. The importance of our job is never overlooked or taken lightly. We are serving future leaders, what we do now is setting a foundation for all of the extraordinary things our students will achieve. Winterfield teachers and staff are committed to our students and community, it's a great place to work and learn.

Winterfield is a highly diverse school. There are highly qualified teachers who are well versed in how to educate both English Language Learners and students with disabilities. They have opened the dual language program this year so that students are instructed in Spanish. There are two family advocates to support families, two counselors, and a social worker... all designed to support the families. Winterfield is a joyful place for teaching and learning.

The staff and leadership at Winterfield always put children first. The population at Winterfield is beautifully diverse and as a result the leadership is well versed in the needs of many cultures. Currently, the principal, dean, and instructional coaches are using time after school to host a free extended day program for students. All members of the instructional leadership are regularly in the classroom teaching and supporting students and staff. It is clear that all are welcome at Winterfield. The environment in the school is nurturing while also providing high quality, culturally responsive, teaching that empowers all students.

The leadership at this school is atrocious. Less. They make the rules up as they go along and absolutely play favorites. There is incredibly high turnover at this school for a reason. Multiple teachers have said I can't work here anymore because of the leadership.

The leadership at this school has had 4-5 years to turn it around and has done NOTHING. Teachers get hired, realize the principal is terrible, and leave as soon as they can.

The school should be closed and used as an office building for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools or for another office site. It's very old and has a large population of roaches as well as East Mecklenburg High the school I came from.

I like winterfield because my daughter always she have high score I'm math and reading too thank you
