My son is in the magnet program and absolutely loves it. He really misses it this year. All of his teachers have been fantastic.

I have had an amazing experience at Idlewild Elementary. Both my children are in the Magnet program and have had a good experience thus far. The school demonstrates rigor when it comes to academics and it has challenged both my children to grow as individuals. The staff and teachers are excellent and are not afraid to do what is best for each student. It was a true success to watch Idlewild receive the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award, the highest recognition given by Magnet Schools of America (MSA), this year and be named the nation's best magnet school. What I enjoyed the most about my journey at Idlewild is, its not just a school, its a family!

Idlewild is a wonderful school! Everything that Idlewild does is done in excellence. We've been a part of Idlewild for 3 years and we are so happy. My daughter is part of the Nationally Acclaimed Magnet program and I am continually amazed by the quality of education provided. The faculty and the staff are invested, encouraging and welcoming. My youngest child will be starting Kindergarten there next year and I couldn't be more pleased. I love the way the school blends the magnet program and the traditional neighborhood students perfectly. Students are well loved and challenged at Idlewild!

My five year old daughter is on week four of Kindergarten. So far IES is an epic disappointment. First the Magnet coordinator "overlooked" her for her placement. It took two visits to the school to get that fixed. No explanation, just an "I don't know, so sorry." Now after attending class for weeks and submitting medical records four times, I received a phone call from the school nurse that my daughter's immunizations are not up to date. Of course, this is two days before she will get kicked out of school. Not sure why it took four record copies to generate one phone call, nor do I understand why I did not receive a phone call after the first record was received. Sadly, I researched IES and was very happy when my daughter was accepted for the Magnet. Now, I am very concerned that I have made a terrible decision on behalf of my daughter. Truthfully, after dealing with the administration at the school, I would not entrust a house plant in their care, let alone the education of my daughter.

I love Idlewild!! This school is so interactive and proactive in teaching their students and helping them in every area of their learning. They send text messages and the principle calls every week with a weekly update on whats happening at the school. My daughter loves going to school which makes me so very happy and gives me relief. Her teacher is great and she is reading above grade level which is exciting for me. Idlewild is a great school with great teachers who go above and beyond for their students. I couldn't be happier.

Idlewild Elementary is a fantastic school! My daughter is a kindergartner in the magnet program and we could not be more pleased with this school! She is reading at a high level and loves going to school everyday. They have electives here three days a week which can vary from Rainforest Study (K) to Civil War History (older kids). The staff are friendly and extremely qualified, the classroom is diverse, and the school has excellent technology available to the students. Idlewild is also always being recognized as a magnet school of excellence, and they just received recognition in NC as a title 1 reward school. I just can't say enough good things about this school- again we are very pleased with our decision to send our daughter here.
