The teachers and staff at Hickory Grove Elementary has been instrumental in my children's academic success. They have been very supportive and creative when it comes to helping my autistic son learn the material. My husband and I are thankful for all their hard work and dedication to improving the lives of our children.

My child has been at hickory grove for two years I absolutely love the support. From the teachers to the office the safety and monitoring they have for the children is remarkable. It is much appreciated I must say to see the interaction with children and acknowledgment with them.

My daughter is in EC pre-k class at Hickory Grove Elementary. Ms. Switzer is amazing and we are so blessed to have had her as our daughter teacher for 2 years along with Ms. Reynolds, Mr. Guillen and Ms. Bartley. They are so loving and care about all the students. They have made a huge impact in my child’s life. She loves school and even wants to go on the weekends. It has been a blessing to send my daughter to school who is non-verbal and know that she is in the best care and I have no worries. Absolutely love them!!

My daughter is currently in the CMS EC Early School at Hickory Grove Elementary and in one of the best teachers I have encountered class. Ms. Switzer and her team, Ms. Reynolds and Mr. Gillen, are a blessing that my family prayed for. Prior to Attending HGES my daughter was at a daycare where she had to have a behavior specialist with her daily 1-on-1 because she was surrounded by educators that did not have the skill set needed to ensure learning was assessable for ALL students. When we would pull up to the daycare, my daughter would have meltdowns and cry as soon as we pulled in the parking lot. There was always an uneasy feeling leaving my nonverbal student in the hands of individualizes who lacked the capacity to support anything outside of normal. Fast ward to Ms. Switzer and her team, when I pull up at HGES my daughter is excited to get out the car and start her day. Most times, I barely get a kiss or a hug goodbye. I can constantly see evidence of changes made to my daughter's instruction based on her needs and academic level when I'm there in person and in the highly anticipated detailed weekly photos and communication. There are monthly parent trainings that provide me, an elementary teacher leader of 15 years, information needed to support my daughter seamlessly at home with the skills she is working on at school. I have never questioned what is happening in my daughter's class because, of the communication structures put in place. Thanks to Ms. Switzer and team my daughter is talking more, taking turns (major accomplishment) and really for her next life goal, the general education classroom next year. It is a hard job raising little humans but even harder raising one on the spectrum. As a parent dropping your babies is easier when I know she is loved, support, and WANTED in a space that she spends majority of her day. When I pick up my child, Ms. Switzer always tells her she loves her, and I know she means it. Being a teacher is not an easy job. Being a teacher of 20+ special needs 3-year-old with superpowers AND their parents takes a special calling from GOD. So, thank you Ms. Allison Switzer and everyone else at HGES for all that you do for my baby and everyone else's baby.

My 2nd grader transferred her from a different county. As a parent, we are always searching for the best environment for our little ones to thrive and Hickory Grove has given her that. They are well organized from the onboarding process to weekly updates and communication. My daughter loves her new school and her teacher, Mrs. Herndon. Thanks to everyone that works there.

This is like the best school to go here in NC because my expirence here in this school was great. To the teachers and staff and everything.I was a student here and my name is Alexis Galdamez Palaciosand here was the best and learning here set my learning for the rest of my life even to middle school.Everything here was the best. The learning of math and reading and everything was so fun and I did a lot.The side courses such as art and physical education and other thing were so much fun.The teachers were so much fun and joke around while learning. They laugh at students jokes. We would go outside almoost every day and have fun as well.Overall my expirence here was the best and support anything here so whoever might read this or come here is going to love it here unless the student is boring and dont know how to lighten up.The school is the best

My daughter attended this school during Covid which was very challenging. Eventually, my daughter returned to the classroom and she thrived. Once or twice, I was able to walk inside the school and watch my child be greeted with a lot of excitement. My daughter loves this school. I noticed a culture at the school with the staff that seemed to go past the common love for the children. It felt like a community within the staff. My daughter went to kindergarten and first grade at this school & now is at a different school for second grade. I see the difference. My daughter misses Hickory Grove beyond words. I miss the teachers & speech therapist from this school. This is a diverse school which means A LOT to my family. CMS schools receive negativity but we have been very blessed to attend this school. If you seek a diverse, warm environment for your family, please consider this school.

We just moved to Charlotte from out of state. I was a little skeptical about public school; but I have been pleasantly surprised by the team of skilled individuals that work here. My daughter loves it and looks forward to school even when she is off. Thank you Ms Smith and Ms Amaechi in Prek class. You have done wonders with my daughter.

I transferred my daughter here from University Park Arts due to transportation. I am very disappointed she was doing more in kindergarten at Uiversity than in1st grade here. The work is not challenging at all she is done with her homework in 5 mins. This school year I am trying to get my daughter back in a full magnet. The children in this school are at severe disadvantage. Parents beware.
