My son attended this school while undergoing rehabilitation, which caused him to fall behind on credits and miss graduation last year. Despite his hope of completing high school upon returning, the support from the school was severely lacking. He was given an overwhelming amount of work to catch up on, with strict deadlines. Although he made significant progress, he couldn't meet the deadlines completely. Consequently, he was expelled and told that other students were waiting to join the school, effectively turning him away. This is a teenager who has not only faced the trauma of abuse but also endured the heart-wrenching loss of my spouse, to whom he was very close. The school's focus was solely on meeting deadlines, with no regard for his mental health. His expulsion has left him feeling even more devastated. This situation highlights how children with mental health issues are discriminated against. Instead of receiving the assistance they desperately need, they are pushed to the edge.It is my heartfelt plea that this school encourages teachers to act with compassion and support students struggling with mental health issues. My efforts to keep my son in school were met with resistance. Why would a child be expelled when he is so close to graduating?

If you’re looking for a better option than CHS in Centralia then this is a good place to check out. The statistics mostly appear how they do because it’s a very small school with only about 60 kids per grad year that go in person (there’s an online option). Despite the statistics it’s a great environment and all the staff is very sweet and supportive in my experience. The principal and lunch lady are some of the sweetest and most inspiring people I’ve ever met. You work at your own pace in classes on the computer so if you don’t have any initiative for that then this may not work for you, but with Futurus High School I was able to go from possibly having to do a second senior year to graduating early and even being half a credit over what I needed. Im also worlds happier than I was at CHS, they actually care here and they LISTEN which is not something I can say about CHS.
