Just had a student graduate from Jefferson. It's a great school. "GreatSchools.org" fails miserably at properly measuring the impact on their metrics when you have a school with a diverse set of students and needs, including Jefferson's amazing support of students with disabilities. The teachers at Jefferson truly care about your student when they show an interest in being at school, learning and participating. Jefferson excels at fine arts (wonderful new Band directors starting this year, and two fantastic choral directors as well as a solid theater department). Jefferson has also won the state academic decathlon 23 years straight and won the nationals in 2022 - following up in a higher division in 2023 with a 6th place finish. Several recent grads have earned full-ride scholarships to prestigious colleges around the country. Ignore the rating, it's bogus. Jefferson is a great school with great students, faculty and staff.

This is a good high school to send your kids. I recommend.

They need better teachers. Some teachers miss a lot of work days causing students not to learn at their fullest.

Great teachers, a long lasting committment to fine arts and significant upgrades to the facility are all reasons why I chose to raise my family in the Jefferson district. My wife as served as a substitute in the school and also interacts with several students throguh a private music lesson studio she operates. Located in a solid, safe working class neighborhood, this school is full of down-to-earth, hard working and smart students.Jefferson, Kennedy and Washington all provide an excellent, well-rounded education, and we're excited to be part of raising third-generation J-Hawks!

Jefferson has always had a proud tradition of excellence and high standards for the westside community. The school is currently going through a face lift and is poising itself to be among the elite schools in the city and state for the coming years.

I am proud to be part of Jefferson's faculty. We deeply care about our kids and work tirelessly on a daily basis to meet a tremendous amount of need. Sometimes the need is too great to address with the limited resources at our disposal (time, student to teacher/counselor/associate principal ratio) but I can say with absolute sincerity that we work with every ounce of energy that we possess to do what is right by our kids. There are many areas for improvement AND we also have a lot to be proud of due to our dedicated students, parents, community members and staff.
