One word. Careless. They neglect students and yell at them for being “wrong”. If you ask questions , it’s apparently careless. Teachers sit in class and do nothing at all. They show a video and then go on their phone. They don’t do anything about bullying until you stand up for yourself. I got in trouble for saying “jot-dots aren’t sentences.” One time , our teacher named off favorites and it was unequal. They swear in front of us also. Teach these teachers self respect! Also , please add more clubs for ALL grades. 6th graders don’t have many clubs , and if they do , they never let you know how to sign up , times , ect. If I had a choice , I would switch schools.

I have had 3 children attend this school and it has progressively gotten worse with each child. They no longer lecture they do everything via chrome books and computer videos. When teachers are asked for assistance, they tell the students to rewatch the video instead of explaining the assignments. I have been sent videos of teachers sleeping, reading books, playing on their phones all while students are watching the course work videos. Roosevelt does not have teachers it has babysitters. It's no wonder their test scores are the lowest in Cedar Rapids, or why their students are so far behind the other schools. Great Schools didn't even rate them a 1 out of 10. The open enrollment process is a joke. We tried to open enroll to a different school 3 years in a row and when you can get someone to actually get back to you, they just deny the request anyway. The teachers spend way too much time trying to bully kids instead of teaching and if the kids try to ask any questions they are kicked out of class to the office or they get detention for the most ridiculous reasons. If you can avoid living in this school's jurisdiction, I strongly recommend avoiding it like the plague. Your children will not be taught anything, and you will have to work with them in the evenings to make sure they are not behind when they go into high school.

This school is not a safe learning environment. Kids are violent and there are no repercussions to teach students right from wrong. Kids that are struggling academically are left to figure things out on their own as staff doesn't seem to care.

Awesome! All the teachers are very nice, and we're allowed to work on school work at home and homework at school, so I don't have very much "homework". I feel like I'm learning what I need to learn, and overall I've had a great experience at Roosevelt (now RCCBA, not RMS)

It is amazing! I came there over Christmas break and everyone was very welcoming. I can't wait for next year!

Terrible. No Cheerleading or sports teams to keep kids active and out of trouble and/or off the streets. They never have homework which I have never heard of. My daughter will not be going to this school next year.

Im a student at this school and let me tell you, this school has problems. This school has put me through stress. and im gettting bad grades that i dont deserve! The teachers will just put something on the board and they don't give out details. Also when you ask to help they are not giving specific details about your work. I think this school is not right for me and the rating tells it. Also plus this school is the lowest in the CRCSD District!

I have been a teacher at Roosevelt Middle School for 20+ years and I can honestly say a 3 out of 10 makes me very very sad to say the least. Roosevelt is completely misunderstood. There are a handful of kids that are problematic like in all schools but the staff is outstanding and goes above and beyond for kids every day. The majority of our kids do the right things and treat others with respect.

I think this school has some problems with the student's behaviors. I usually see kids fighting, arguing or calling eachother names in the hallways. I really like some of the teachers. Some taught me so much. I just wish the other people would get along and stop bullying others.
