Very heavy on outdated practices like "behavior charts" (which have been proven to be harmful long term) and leading by fear. Unfortunately these practices have all been shown to lead to slower learning, childhood depression, bullying amongst peers, and creating a hostile environment in which children feel unsafe. We witnessed all of these things firsthand from the teacher level, all the way through the principal. If you're looking for an modern educated staff who understands updated childhood development practices? This is not the school for you.

I was warned by other parents that this was not a good school, but I had high hopes that their experiences were isolated. Sadly, this has turned out to be a terrible school. The staff are nice and they try to make students feel at home, but the focus on student outcomes - academics - just isn't there. They don't use the curriculum here like they did at the K-2 school and it shows. The expectations are very low and all I hear are excuses, from blaming the families to the students themselves. There are lots of award ceremonies where mediocrity is celebrated. No high achievements to celebrate, because there aren't any - which has nothing to do with students and everything to do with teachers who just don't do their jobs. There is no accountability for teachers, who run the school as they see fit under poor leadership. The school itself is old but there doesn't seem to be an attempt to bring it into this century. The library and classrooms look like they did in 1995. Even the featured photos in the main hall are full of people gone decades ago. If you have a choice, do not send your child here. It will waste their time and they will never get it back.

I really appreciate the progress my kids are making in the school. They are frequently bringing home information and things that are new, even to dear old dad!
