This school has serious discipline issues. Both of my children were bullied not only by students but teachers as well. They issue a discipline card to student and process to mark it for things like dropping your pencil on the floor but do nothing about students hitting others and calling names. They also took away transportation to all students except kindergarten. They only notified the parents 3 weeks before school started. I don’t see how this school received a 6/10 on school grades. I saw my children’s education slipping behind what they had already learned in a different district. I would have never bought a house in this neighborhood if I knew more about this school.

This school deserves a 0. How Do you as a principal allow one of your staff to tell a child that he will nwver be anything or amount to anything all because she was having a bad day. Her stating this and the principal. I felt bad for this teacher going through a situation but it does not excuse her behavior. Yet, I was pushed away and told, it was done, move on. No, I will not

My 2 daughters kindergarten and third grade both love their school. The days can be long but they enjoy their 3 day weekend every week. My kids also love their teachers and the club's. The school is a bit overcrowded but they have done everything in their power to make it the best it can be for the children and parents. This next school year the school will be converted to a k-5 to solve some of the overcrowding issue. We also love the diversity and learning opportunities.

I am moving my child to another school next year. It’s really unfortunate since the next closest school that is decent is 18 miles away. Tartesso elementary is way over crowded. They need to build a second elementary school ASAP. Also, the hours stink. 7am-3pm Tuesday through Friday is not ideal by any means. My child always comes home complaining the days are too long and she feels like she doesn’t get help as often as she would like due to the overcrowding I guess. Tartesso tries, but it’s too overcrowded and the students often get overlooked. There’s also a bullying problem that I’ve noticed the principal does nothing to solve.

My experience has led me to move my child next school year. It hasn't been a great experience, this year especially has been awful. Last year a teacher was cheating on standard tests and allowed to leave the district with no real punishment for her actions. The teacher turnover rate seems to happen often with at least 1 teacher leaving every year since we have been there. The principal has given performance evaluation for the teachers to fill out on her performance and then questioned them in a meeting about why they scored her the way they did. She allows her favorite teachers to talk about and disclose students personal information in detail when they feel like "venting". Using first and last names, parent names, details of their home life, etc. it's disgusting. Nothing about her approach is professional or respectful. The principal makes quick to paint a picture that she is stuck to abide by a matrix for disciplinary action but doesn't extend that same rigidness to the teachers children or her favorite students. It's honestly sad that this small community is plagued by a school that is really below average in every way in the greater scheme of things.

Don't know what has happened to this school, but it's a joke. The principal plays favorites and has her own category of bullying. Also the grading system is a joke. A lot of teachers give off the "I'm here for a paycheck" vibe and don't care about the kids. There's no asst principle and the teachers get no help from anyone. There are a few teachers who do go above and beyond but they are over shadowed by the bad ones. This school needs a new approach and more teachers. It's over-crowded.

The teachers at this school are doing an awesome job keeping the kids at or above grade level. The principal is motivated to bringing the best educators available and also having a large variety of clubs/sports.

This district has made great strides since being placed in receivership. The 2014 grades show the great work done from the board, superintendent all the way down to the maintenance personal. If you really want to help improve the school, get involved. Consider running for the school board.

Love the community (but not busybody) feel of this school. Great leadership and great teachers for the most part. I would highly recommend the neighborhood.

Ms. Burton is an Excellent Prinicpal, she responded to all of My husband and I concerns/questions and made us feel comfortable. My daughter is thriving in Kindergarten and her teacher is Great. I'm hoping more activities and sports are added.

A year later and I continue to love this school. It is small and personal. My daughter is doing wonderful and she loves it! So far all the teachers have been fabulous. I don't care that the rating is a four on this website. Education isn't only at the school, parents/family must assist to get the best experience.
