I chose this option because there was no option to zero this was the absolute worst school of all time. I hated it so much I would cry in the bathroom before school started, I was bullied and put under immense inexperienced teachers who didn’t care about their jobs whatsoever. If you are thinking about sending your child to this school do not it is terrible.

My feelings about this school are so confused, that to write them down with clarity would mean I had them all figured out. Which I do not. Your impossible nonsense would never even cross my mind as acceptable adult behavior. The absurdities that I have witnessed are disturbing

When I was there, the school had the feel of a juvenile detention center. If Xaverian was all it said it was, there would have been more students there who had the courage to stand up to the relentless and merciless bullying that took place. Most students were either bullies or fearfully complacent with what was going on (both equally lame) - and that ranged from verbal abuse and humiliation to physical assault. To put the collective character of the students and the culture of school into perspective - girls can attest to what it was like to get on the bus going home from Xaverian. The vile, verbally abusive, sexually aggressive comments and harassment coming from those classy Xaverian boys (and they probably wouldn't have known what to do with a girl) spoke for how abusive the environment was. I have to wonder if people think the school must good because the tuition is so high, but what this school really teaches is the most horrible people tend to have plenty of money.

This scool was the best thing that ever happened to my kid. She was challenged academically and rose to the expectations of her teachers. In the honors classes she was pushed to be the best she could be and loved every minute of it. She complains now that college isn;t as great as Xaverian was.

I should have known something was not right when I asked about the admissions criteria. I was told that it was "holistic." I took it to mean a social experiment that did not rely upon grades. I was correct. My child was accepted and did very well. I can not say the same for many classmates, who scored very low on exams and did not do any assignments. These students were abusive and bullied anyone that did well. It created three years of yell for my son. When the situation was discussed with the faculty it was brushed off. To prevent failing many students some teachers gave projects greater weight. Other teachers gave take home exams. My child would receive calls demanding answers to the exam. By the end of the year the failing students raised their grades to 70%.My child's experience was terrible because of the abuse. It is not a gifted and talented program if students are not interested in their grades. I would save your money and go public.

My son is currently hospitalized because of the emotional harm that was done to him at this school. My son was in the Ryken program, which is for kids with special needs. The program basically violated my son's rights on multiple occasions. I will be filing a report with the state and possibly taking it further from there. This school loves to cover things up and make up lies to keep their "clean" image, even going as far as removing reviews that were made on their facebook page when they realized I made a post which brought their ratings down. Did they forget that people have the capabilities to screenshot? Yes, I did and will be posting that screenshot and submitting it to anyone who needs to review it. Removing the review is only going to prove that they like to cover things up. They didnt even care to check on my son when he was away from school for a while, and when the dept of ed informed them that my son was in the hospital, they still did not care to contact me to at least ask if he was ok and how he was doing. A real Catholic school would not lie and would care about their students. They can remove anything, but they CANNOT remove the screenshots that I have from when I first posted on facebook! I wonder what coverup/lie they will have when I submit my proof.....

Our son is a senior at Xaverian High School. When we learned he wanted to go to Xaverian we were sceptical due to the tuition. But I have to say when I see the way he speaks and writes, we know we made the right choice and that he is is ready for college. When you hear your son say " I can't believe four years have gone by". You know he had a wonderful experience at Xaverian. He has been accepted to colleges with scholarships. Kudos to the administration and teachers for a job well done! Thank you for taking our in our son as a boy, and now will be leaving as a young man!

The school seems to be on the right track these days. Good administrators, good teachers, good athletics. I cannot say the same from when I attended there in the early 2000's. Good for them for making the right moves and changes. hopefully students today will have a better experience than I had.

Genesis is a separate middle school coed program within Xaverian, selling itself as Gifted and Talented. I spent the summer before my daughter started 6th grade debating as to wether she should go at Genesis or at Twain, where she had been accepted.... 3 years later, I can guarantee that Genesis is a well run catolic program that knows where it is going, with a strong focus on academics. They are stronger in writing than maths. They participate in the National History Day from competing at a school, city, state and finally national level. The school is not perfect but my daughter has worked extremely hard and learned a lot in a strict and lively atmosphere. The high school process seems to be mastered there and it looks like the girl do get accepted to elite schools in the city. Good luck,

The good: Nice looking facility. I feel that the school leadership- principal, teachers, and guidance- care about the boys. When I had a question or when my son had issues, the staff was receptive and prompt in their response to my inquiries. The level of academics is appropriate, and there's enough for everyone- honors, advanced placement, general, and even special needs are available. Also, there is free tutoring available. The bad: This is a Boy's Club; my son chose this school, even though he is NOT 1 of The Boys: He is not white Italian and rich, which comprises the overwhelming majority of the student body. I feel that this may have been one reason he had a hard time adjusting, and missed a tremendous amount of time, especially in his sophomore year. Moreover, there are not merely as many after school activities as I expected, and what Xaverian leads you to believe. So, if you're not into sports then the options are limited. Lastly, this school is relatively expensive.

Xaverian HS is a second home to my son. He is having a great high school experience so far! He is currently a Sophmore playing 2sports while maintaining great grades! Xaverian teachers, guidance counselors, and the coaching staff really keep the boys on track and treat them with a level of respect which the boys mimic in return! They are at the most advanced High School with the Ipads which gives the students a well around academic challenge! I could go on and on my son and I love our new Xaverian family because that's what you become one big family!!! Just listen to the football team chant 1...2...3 Xmen 4...5...6...FAMILY!!! That speaks volumes about how our boys feel about their School community! So happy my son didn't go to Xavier in the city! Best choice he walked into the building a boy I know they are going to mold him into a fine young man for others!

4 Thumbs up to the staff of Xaverian. My son is in his second year here at Xaverian. He loves this school and it shows in his grades. Xaverian treat their students like adults, as if they are in college. They receive lots of work and are expected to know the lessons for the next class. I visited the school once for some information and was pleased to see that the kids act as adults not like animals I would see in many public schools. The students last year received Ipads to replace notebooks in class. I was hesitant about this program..but it did prove me wrong. Kudos to the administration! I believe many people think this school is not worth the money of its tuition, I believe it's worth every penny. My son has become a more responsible. organized, and matured individual. I know with the guidance of his school, my son will be well prepared for college. Thank you Xaverian!

This school has some acceptable qualities but overall they are focused on their athletics programs and are putting less attention to their academics. The administration is highly flawed and does not care about the student while they care more about the image that Xaverian portrays. The whole student body is extremely diverse which leads to racial tension and often the formation of racial groups that tend to keep to themselves. The tuition is highly overpriced and does not reflect in the amount of resources that are offered at this school. There are a large amount of public schools that will be exponentially better that Xaverian High school. I strongly recommend that you DO NOT send your son to that school.
