My son attended the Block institute for a year before I transferred him to another school. Prior his attending the Block, I heard great things about it. My reality however was different. I found my son's teacher to be extremely careless and unable to neither manage her classroom nor guide the TA's in the room. There were countless incidents of carelessness; i.e. a cut on my child's face where nobody seems to know how it happened or a blister on my child's finger, again without an explanation. Even further, my child being sent home wearing someone else's clothing, another child's property in my child's bag, my child's property being given to someone else and even being sent home inappropriately dresses. I spoke to the teacher several times and each time I was given an excuse along with an apology. I had a meeting with the administrators, therapists and teacher together about this. I left that meeting hopeful that things would change but the only thing that changed is that my child stopped getting hurt. The final straw was when they sent my child home in 12 degree weather with his hat, scarf and gloves in his bag as opposed to dressing him. He was sent to school wearing everything and fully protected for the weather, so there was no reason to send him home underdressed for the weather. When I spoke to the teacher about it, she blamed the bus staff (which they did often). What is the likelihood that the matron on the bus singled out my child, took off my child's hat, gloves and scarf, placed them in his bag and sent him on his way? This incident made me lose any little trust I had in his teacher and in her care for his welfare. These things created a distraction from the discussions that we should have had more often about my child's progress in school and what we can do to partner for his success. Talking to his teacher, it was clear that she was a new teacher with limited experience. She approached educating from a "one size fits all" prospective. This spoke to her lack of experience. I also had conversations with administration with regard to this and all they did was confirm that his teacher needs more experience and the she is new. I had conversations with two other parents whose child was in my child's class and they experienced similar things. All being said that was my experience, other classrooms had different experiences.

My daughter attends Block Institute and she has improved tremendously. I would recommend this school to all my friends. Her teacher Ms. Randi is the best, Jasmine also loves Beth and Christine. Her class writes letters, numbers, draws and color in the lines. There's a huge playground, indoor swimming pool and a nice size gymnasium. Jasmine will be graduating this June and on behalf of Jasmine, I would like to thank Block Institute for such a wonderful learning experience.

My son is 5 years old and has been attending this school since last year.He has had 3 accidents in this school! Two accidents happened last year. One accident was that his chin got open&he got six stitches only because the teacher couldn't clean up which made myson to trip and fall&open his chin. The other accident was that his hand&finger broke and had to get a cast on his hand and stay with it for two months. We figured this out when we were picking him up from the bus.The bus blamed the accident on the school while the school blamed the accident on the bus.Throughout this first year, he always comes home hurt or injured! This year, his head got hurt. The nurse called 10 minutes before it was dismissal time while SMILING and said "oh hi,is this your son, well he hurt him self in the head and you need to pick him up because the bus left without him" I had to take two buses to get to the school.I picked him up&i screamed to all the people in this school that this school is the worst school, that everyone is inresponsible and doesntknow how to take care of children. If you as a parent trying to get your son/daughter intoa privateschool,This school would be just a WASTE OF YOURTIME&MONEY
