We are new to the area and my children went to a prestigious private school, so I was nervous initially, but this place is a hidden gem. The school is small and they manage their classrooms really well. The school boundaries have been changed, so there is a better mix of families and commitment from parents. They are big on growing the whole child socially and academically. My daughter loves her new school and how she gets rewarded for doing her best. This is an exceptional school and I couldn't be happier to send my daughter to Whittier! Bravo to the new principal and all the teachers!

My son attended Whittier K-5. It is a wonderful, caring, small neighborhood school that includes orchestra or band instrument lessons starting at 5th grade.

My child attended Whittier elementary for two years. My student required some remedial cirriculum, which we found out quickly is where this school falls drastically short. They do not have staff that are trained to work with students that require extra help. Because they were ill equipped to offer appropriate teaching, my student was essentually "babysat" for much of those two years by crossing guards and other ancillary school employees. Since leaving Whitttier, the student has flourished and is an A - B student. It was two years full of frustration, self doubt, and hurt that we've worked to overcome.

This is an awesome school with a lot of attention to detail and a great after school programme.
