I have 2 children at Tulip Grove. One of my children is an IEP. The faculty has been amazing from the beginning. For my son with the IEP, the special education staff worked with me and was very patient while I got my son's autism diagnosis and paperwork. I got weekly updates of his progress and they ensured that he got the same experience as the other students. My son was very engaged and it's not easy to keep him motivated but they were able to do it. For my daughter who doesn't have an IEP I also got weekly updates from her teacher regarding what they are learning. I didn't have to wait until parent teacher conferences to know how my kids are doing. They also have regular community events such as trunk or treat and a winter festival which my kids absolutely loved. I am really happy with Tulip Grove.

TGE School is one of the best in town. Not only the staff is so professional and great, but they care about all students. They help students to learn and improve. They have special programs for students in need and jus because of this my son got the help needed and improving every year. This school also participates in different compositions as Debate and Silence Olympiad wining so many times. I am so glad my booth kids are part of this amazing school.

Tulip Grove is an amazing school and is a "gem" within PG county. We have been attending the school for the last 3 years and are in love with the principal, the teachers/staff, and the overall Tulip Grove community. Most schools struggle with communication to parents, timeliness of information, and overall positive engagement with parents. However the Principal Mrs. Coffen has mastered all of these and excels in ensuring that communication is a top priority. As a parent I receive a biweekly newsletter that contains all the information that I need as well as weekly information from the my child's teacher. She definitely is the glue that keeps this school running so smoothly; one of her most endearing qualities is that she makes it a point to learn EVERY students name! My daughter was so excited that the "principal" knew her name after only being there a few weeks. Her staff also love and look up to her and are committed to ensuring that the school excels. Positive school leadership is so important and Tulip Grove exemplifies why having a solid leadership team is a key ingredient of what makes a school good versus GREAT.

This is a great school overall. The strategies they use for academics are modern and updated, and I like how they change their approaches over the years. The teachers are phenomenal! Warm, friendly, caring and you can tell they are focused on the whole child. They only use positive discipline, but the kids here are awesome too (for the most part). Lastly, the environment of the school is really nice--the building looks modern, airy and colorful, and the teachers and staff put a lot into creating a community/family environment for the kids. There is a lot of school pride for this reason, and my kids love to be there and like going to school (even though they do get bored in class sometimes--but who doesn't?).HOWEVER, the principal (Coffen) leaves a lot to be desired. She appears professional (maybe overly so) and seems to manage the school well (she's hired some great teachers after all), but she can be very rude and off-putting. She makes it clear who she likes and who she will be rude to because she DOESN'T "like" them, which is very unprofessional. She seems to cause little dramas/conflicts because of her brash personality (I have seen her snap on people and give dirty looks). And she is not only rude to some parents, she seems to show favoritism among the children as well. She is not blatantly rude to the kids, but she will ignore and overlook the ones she doesn't seem to "like," and just show them much less attention. Luckily, she doesn't interact with them on a daily basis.

We've been attending TGES for 4 years so far and have had wonderful experiences. The teaching staff are warm, welcoming, and encourage their students to do their best. The PTA is incredibly active and always available to help. Tulip Grove is a community and one we're proud to be a part of!

My children have been at this school for many years. I absolutely love the teachers, principal, and PTA environment. We are so lucky to have this small, tight-knit elementary school in our community. My son left for one year to attend a TAG magnet, but we decided to come back to TGES. The teachers are really what make it great. Love Tulip Grove!

My son has been attending since kindergarten is now entering 1st grade. Teachers are very responsive as well as administration. My son is excited about learning and constantly speaks positively about staff. He encountered a bully in his class and Administration handled the situation fairly and swiftly. The "bully" appears to be reformed and is now a friend to my son. I believe it's due to the way Admin and staff help to create an environment of accountability and character. Highly recommend this school.

Both my son and I love Tulip Grove elementary. The teachers are very involved with helping kids learn - and I feel like my son is thriving there. The teachers and staff make you feel welcome - and really listen when you have a concern. The relocation has been of no concern at all. Overall a great elementary experience.

I truly love this school. There is 1 teacher that my oldest had who needs to move on but other than that, I have had no issues with the teachers or staff. The principal mentioned in some of the previous comments has moved on but the new principal is wonderful. She even sent out a robo-call over the summer to make sure the parents are informed of what is happening with the school move and renovations. I am very pleased!

The previous reviewer who described the environment of yelling and demeaning behavior by the teachers is spot on. I found the overall environment to be a safe one for my child. But I found the quality of the education to be lacking. So disappointing! There are teachers who yell at students and talk to them in a disrespectful fashion. Too many of them are dismissive of parental concerns regarding their children's progress. They care only about the straight A or TAG students because they make the school look good. Overbearing PTA parents who look out only for their own children's interests have been allowed free range. Too much cliquish and elitist behavior exists at this school. The truly good teachers there are overshadowed by the ones who need to move on. Hopefully the new principal can improve the atmosphere there.

This school does not offer Pre-K. Otherwise, it is a very nice school and located in a nice area.

We love Tulip Grove! The teachers and, parents work together for the children. The school is bright and cheerful with smiles all around. Every morning the principal greets every child by name and gives them a high five. My child is excited about going to school every day! This school is everything any parent would want for their child! We love our school!

All that Glitters is not Gold! Bullying by staff and students is off the hook. Go to the cafeteria, or walk down the halls and just listen; you'll get an earful of demeaning words, even screaming at the top of their lungs to get their students to comply. More like a military academy than a school. All for a great bonu$ payout for the staff, when the test scores come in. Very unfortunate because not all the teachers are bully's. Need to just mention the PE teacher is a saint !

We are very pleased with the education our children are receiving at Tulip Grove and with the positive environment in which it's being delivered. The principal, who greets the children with excitement every morning, rewards both peaceful behavior and academic achievement. The teachers are dedicated and care about the success of their students. Unlike many schools, they have an open-door policy and welcome parental involvement. Despite budget cuts, they've continued to provide consistent, quality education.

This is a great school in a wonderful community. The teachers and principal do a wonderful job guiding the children. We had the opportunity to put my daughter into a TAG magnet school, but we like it so much at Tulip Grove that we have decided to keep her there. The PTA is very active and there are many opportunities for parents to be involved in their child's school experience. I feel extremely lucky to live in the Tulip Grove boundary.
