I went to this high school and it sucked big time. All this school is about is football and cheer leading. That's not what sets BHS a part from other terrible schools. A lot of the teachers teach on their own agendas not what the class is suppose to be about. The biology teacher, who still teaches at Bowdon, refused to teach evolution, because she's a Christian, even though the state requires it. Not to mention it's a science class not a religion class. Also I took drama as an elective the year I took it was the same year the teacher was getting married and nearly all the class was about her fiancee and her. She even brought in her wedding announcements and wanted the students to help her with them. There are some good teachers here but they are out numbered by the bad ones.

Bowdon means family! Small schools with big hearts prepare students for the real world. As a alumni I know the basis of a good education and Bowdon prepared me for college and for my next steps in life. Bowdon cares and I miss that since my children go to a really big school now. Bowdon is tradition in academics as well as athletics. Roll Red Roll

As a 3rd generation student of Bowdon, I can say that I really enjoyed my time here. I love the small town "at home" feel of the school and the traditions associated with athletics. At Bowdon we are always pushed to strive for excellence in sports and the classroom. Sports allow kids to make friends, learn life lessons of leadership and teamwork, and give students motivation to come to class and stay out of trouble. I have never felt excluded here and feel as though everyone talks to everyone. We don't have to worry about cliques. The faculty is laid back. We don't have strict rules, but we lack discipline problems. I am prepared for college, and thanks to my excellent teachers I got a very high ACT score and received many scholarships. I enjoyed having many teachers who taught my brother and parents, although it meant I couldn't act out. All in all, I have received a great education and invaluable life skills that will help me succeed in life, just as my parents, brother, and grandparents have succeeded as a result of their experiences at this true small town school. Did I mention that the community is amazingly supportive too? I wouldn't send my children to any other school.
