This school is such a gem and all of my kids have loved the experience. Came from a private school in boulder and this is so much better

If your child doesn't need additional support or doesn't qualify for a 504 or IEP then your child might thrive here. Our child's state tests indicated that she was 2 grades behind in 2 subjects. Our child's 5th grade teacher would not communicate with us, canceled regular parent-teacher conferences, gave our child answers to tests. When this information and evidence was brought forth to the administration, the administration was supportive of the teacher and did nothing. They wouldn't even agree to simply communicate what they were covering in class so that we could supplement at home. We had to move our child to a private school. We are not the only parents with this experience as numerous parents have filed complaints with the school district.

In the Table Mesa area, we have several high performing elementary schools to choose from - they are all going to serve children's academic needs. We chose Mesa because of its smaller classes and strong community. It is our second year now, and we feel we made the correct choice. Nearly all the staff at the school know our child by name. We get reports back, good and bad, on exactly what and how he is doing. When things were not working well, we had immediate access to professionals to help us out - academically, and social emotionally. Add to that, everyone at the school seems to be on the same page. Keeping kids on track is key, or you will have to put in more effort latter-even with the best students. We think a small school, with a professional, experienced staff, is the way to go to keep kids on track. Mesa delivers this.

We transferred to Mesa from a nearby overrated school where the staff didn’t see the necessity of attending to bullying and social well-being of their students. Joining Mesa has changed our lives for better. We have found a home away from home. We have found a loving, caring and fun community where our children have thrived academically, made meaningful friendships and learned how to handle difficult social situations effectively. Mesa offers the kind of wholesome experience in which children actually look forward to going to school. This is due to the strong connection and constant cooperation between the staff and the parents. When a problem arises (academically or socially) the teachers, school counselors and administrators all rush to help the students. Also thankfully we have the kind of community where parent’s involvement is overwhelming. Everyone loves Mesa, contributes and wants to see it thrive. Like this isn’t enough, we have surprising number of fun community building events throughout the school year, ranging from mix grade and whole grade gatherings, multicultural events, fall fests, fun runs, community coffee, class parties and field trips. While our wonderful and loving teachers go above and beyond to make sure every child is met at their level and challenged properly, we are also blessed to have many professionals who work side by side our teachers to assist the students who need more support or challenge.

We moved to Boulder from a different country last year, and are now in our 2nd year at Mesa Elementary School. Our youngest attended kindergarten last year and is half way through 1st grade this year. Our oldest attended 2nd grade last year and is in 3rd this year. I was weary about entering a new country and new school system, and wondered how well my kids would integrate. Well, we definitely picked the right school! The community of parents, school teachers and school staff embraced our entire family whole-heartedly and our kids are thriving! The rigorous and creative manner in which teachers seek to spark children's curiosity, discover and explore new ideas, and build upon children's strengths to solve challenges is top notch. In addition, the family and surrounding neighborhood support continues to be very effective at identifying and funding programs to maintain academic excellence, as well as nurture a well-rounded education that fosters empathy, celebrates teamwork and reinforces community.

I can’t say enough great things about Mesa. I live in the choice district between Mesa Elementary and Bear Creek Elementary. After touring both schools, decided Mesa was the right fit for our family. Not only does Mesa have excellent academics and very small class sizes (my kids have 14 kids and 22 kids in their classes this year), but the community of people is unlike any other. There are monthly coffee carts, hiking groups, meet ups at parks and teachers who are always willing to go the extra mile. I am not sure what algorithm gave us a 6/10 on the most recent scoring, but we have been 9/10 for the 6 years we have been there and Mesa has always been welcoming and challenging academically for my kids. It is still the same great school it has always been. We are lucky to have a school our kids are excited to go to each day!!

We moved from out of district to Boulder specifically to attend Mesa. After touring the school, we instantly felt the warm and welcoming community. Our kids are so happy here and it makes such a big difference when your children are supported, encouraged, feel safe, and love their teachers and friends. They can't wait to get out the door and go to school every morning! Families were incredibly welcoming to us and it was easy for our kids to make friends. The school does a great job with communication as well-- from the principal, teachers, and PTO; you always know what's going on. We also feel like our kids are challenged here academically. Teachers met them where they were and gently encouraged them to push themselves and grow with extra support. We couldn't be happier at Mesa and are so glad we made the move to be part of this amazing community.

Mesa is such a wonderful school! It's a great and welcoming community, and I always have the sense that the teachers and administration have the kids' best interests at the forefront of their planning. We've made so many good friends at Mesa (currently I have a 2nd grader and a 4th grader) and would encourage anyone considering enrollment to come for a tour!

Mesa is the total package! Top-notch academics, incredible specials, fabulous teachers and staff, and a uniquely welcoming and engaged community! We LOVE Mesa! Best decision ever.

Mesa offers amazing academics, specials, and emotional skills. The staff and administrators are 99.9999% fantastic. If you’re rich you will likely be very happy here. The “Equity” initiative is inadequate. They’re trying to address racial inequality and doing a reasonable job with it. But if you are poor or middle class? Expect to be excluded socially and that the school will ignore the challenges you face. Rules rarely take financial disadvantage into account and you will be repeatedly billed by the PTO while participating in important school activities will be really costly. The PTO bill is $350. That’s a dinner bill for most of these people. So if you open enroll or scrabble your way into the attendance area with a basement apartment, shared housing, whatever, just understand that you won’t be fully accepted and will have to really search out those few families who don’t think you and your child are worthless because you’re poor.

5 stars! Mesa is the school my children will remember as their childhood school with fond memories. I will look back on the quality of education they are receiving.

This is a true community where all kids and families are welcome. My kids love their school and their teachers and we love the community and the learning that happens here. 5th grade outdoor education was a highlight for us.

Amazing! I have 4 kids who have made or are making their way through Mesa. We feel super lucky to be apart of the Mesa community. We love the specials teachers! They go above and beyond in their teaching. The music program is so great the M&M's, the spring musical and concert. The art projects are ones you frame and put on your walls and the PE teacher comes up with the greatest activities! Field days are super fun! My kids are learning, thriving and growing in amazing ways, we couldn't be happier!

POOR! Mesa is filled with favoritism and bullying. Kids are not taught or shown respect. I was so relieved when my kids were done with the school.

10! We just joined Mesa a year ago (2 kids) and couldn't be happier. There is such strong community, academic learning is strong, the specials teachers are amazing (especially the music teacher who really goes above and beyond), and social-emotional learning is treated with great importance as well. My kids have made wonderful and kind friends who welcomed them to the school. We feel so lucky to be at Mesa!
