The Principal has been great with working with my son. I love the JAWS program for the kids & that they teach them great skills for living.

The front office staff is very rude and not helpful. The principal never calls you or follow up when your kid is being physically and emotionally bullied. My son still have Mark's on him and a huge lump on his head from being slammed into a wall. Oh and the teachers just brush it off and act like it's nothing. Very disappointing since I went to this school as a kid. Very eager to move so my youngest doesnt have to fo through three years of this like my oldest son. Sad to say a lot of parents have gone through what we have.

If your family is NOT of the Mormon faith, please be aware that you and your children will be shunned, shamed, and discriminated against. If you are a woman, your opinions and concerns will be ignored (but getting your husband involved works wonders). One of my children spent time at this school several years ago and I volunteered in her class every week. Her teacher very clearly favored the boys. When my daughter pointed out math mistakes the teacher made during class, she was told to be quiet and listen to the lesson. Individuality was discouraged. As punishment, an entire class would be made to march up and down the hallway during recess without talking. There is no sex education offered except abstinence; my daughter even brought home a worksheet that claimed the placenta was "a sack that surrounds the fetus." If you agree with the teachings of the Mormon faith regarding the place of women and girls in society, then you will do fine here (although your daughter might be permanently harmed). If you have children in this school, I STRONGLY urge you to volunteer in their class and monitor them closely. My children have attended schools in three different states; we ended up leaving Nevada solely for our children's educations. Neither I, nor they, have looked back; it was like have an enormous weight removed from our shoulders.

I know many teachers who aren't doing as well in other states. This is one terrific feeling knowing our students are so blessed.

I'm not sure how the 1 star reviewer managed to have such a horrible experience, but it is completely the opposite of everything I have seen in this school, the one that feeds this school, and the jr. high and high school that feed from this elementary. MPK is head and shoulders above anything I have seen offered on the Vegas side of the school district in both academics and especially discipline. While I don't discount that bad experience of the reviewer, it is most definitely not representative of the four public schools in this community. Both of my children have come out of this school academically strong, well rounded, and have had numerous chances at activities outside the class that have boosted their knowledge of the world around them (trips to Astro Camp, Pali Camp, Catalina Island, Civil War re-enactments, World Traveler - Nevada Citizen - and Great American programs).

Moved here from north Las Vegas 4 years ago. Such a tremendous difference in the school here! All three of my girls have attended mpk and all have loved it! It's great to have teachers that care! We love Martha P. King!!!
