Both of my kids go to this school. It's a wonderful school. The principal Ms. Newman, all the teachers and everyone that works there are full of love, positivity and they love all the kids so much. You feel the love and the great energy when the teachers and principal greet all the kids in the morning, making sure they are loved, making sure they feel good about themselves. They are just one beautiful and amazing community. As a parent I'm very grateful to part of this school.

Great school. We’ve had 4 children all attend from kindergarten through 5th and have not had any major issues.

My daughter has been going to the school for the past three years for the three years she has been racially profiled and racially discriminated against just this year when they got the new principal Mrs Newman it started to tone down some There has been multiple issues between other children that haven’t been resolved my daughter has no faith in the staff there besides the principal the office staff sat and talked about me stating they should just suspend. My daughter because her mother is crazy not knowing that there was another student in the office that overheard them talking and went back and told my child I have requested my child to be reassigned to a different school twice both times got denied please do not move into this area of Henderson Nevada where your kid Has to go to that school I am Tired and disgusted of what I’ve endured and what my child has endured the last three yearsThe only thing I can say that’s good about that school is the principal Mrs. Newman and Miss Beal And it’s so sad that they have rotten apples all around them that make their school deteriorate how it is I will be contacting the school board for the 5th time now clearly nothing ever gets done

The school seems to have really improved for the 2022 school year. Much happier!

Over the school isn't horrible but it isn't great either. My boys went to this school during the 2021-22 school year after having an AMAZING few years at Kesterson ES. The only reason we switched schools is because we moved out of the zone. I knew that not all schools would be the same as the one we came from so I decided to send my kids with an open mind. The teachers aren't the most communicative. They tend to forget that parents are essential when trying to deal with behavior problems and/or academics. They don't share what is happening in the school until you call to issue a complaint about one thing or another. As a previous reviewer stated, teachers try and limit how much your child uses the bathroom, however a word of advice...They can't. They are not allowed to stop your child from using the bathroom. So if you need to... advise them that you will file a complaint with the district. Overall my kids seem to be semi happy at this school. They said there are bullies, but they've been able to hold their own. Luckily my child will be leaving this school for middle school next year and my 2nd grader will be attending another school as well. The only reason I recommend it is because I know for a fact there are worse schools out there. So if your new to the area, don't be too worried, just make sure you are on top of what is going on at the school and that you are checking in with your child periodically to see how things are going.

As a former student here, I had a wonderful experience. Throughout my whole year, I only really had 1 sour teacher. My grades were amazing. All the teachers are kind. The clubs are also really fun to be in. Elementary school was an amazing experience for me :)

At one time, this school was a very well sought out school. Ranked 10/10, 5 stars, etc. until the last few years. The principal is HORRIBLE!! She does not try to solve or address any issues. Instead she sweeps them away or comes up with pitiful excuses. I finally pulled my kid from this school because of all the nonsense and it was the best decision ever. I don’t even know where to begin. 1. My daughter was in Kindergarten and came home bawling her eyes out because she had to use the bathroom during specials. She was told that if she uses the bathroom during specials then she loses her recess. I emailed Mrs. Imlay (the supposed principal) about the issue and her reply was “they only get one hour a week at specials so it’s important to not have any distractions.” She went on to say “they usually get the hang of it after a couple weeks (meaning not going to the bathroom)” and her other excuse is “they get a bathroom break before specials.” THEY ARE IN KINDERGARTEN!!!!!! What. The. ???? Since then I know of a few kids who have had accidents during specials because they’re afraid to go. How humiliating!! 2. BULLYING. OH MY GOODNESS!! This school has a terrible bullying and behavioral issue. Well of course they do....nothing gets done about it. Daily I would hear about other kids in my daughters class hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, punching, name calling, etc. There was even a gun threat. It was to the point that I didn’t feel safe sending my child to school which is the worst feeling ever as a parent. It’s not ok and there’s nothing being done to stop it. If something is being done it’s clearly an ineffective approach! If you want to report bullying you have to go to the office to fill out some random useless form. 3. There is no parental involvement. No communication. Some teachers are good about communicating but overall as a parent you feel completely left out in your child’s education. 4. Whatever you do. DO NOT allow your kids to ride the bus. I have literally watched bus drivers smoke right outside of their bus with open doors ON SCHOOL PROPERTY, put out their cigarette, and get on the bus. This issue was also brought to the attention of the principal with nothing done about it. The buses are unreliable, over crowded, and unsafe. Walker doesn’t compare to some of the other surrounding schools

Zero. Horrible. Ibhave watched my child struggle to test well with one 15 minute break in just 1st grade. Assigned lunch seating means never being able to socialize outside of the same few people, even if there are issues.

Horrible! It was so bad, we moved so my son didn’t have to continue being mistreated.

Walker is home to all 3 of our children. The staff is super attentive. The principal Dr. Hall has taken the time to know our children by name (always a great compliment). We like Walker's emphasis on academics and fun community events.

I volunteer a few times a week and will hear a few different teachers talking to the children in a condescending manner... They are children, they don't need to be talked to this way. My children like this school, they are sad they now have to change schools due to moving down the street and are no longer zoned. I found out they rarely approve zone variances here and denied the zone variance ... Sucks for my 4th grader... He now has to change schools for one year.. Both of my children have great teachers! I will say that, I definitely lucked out.if you plan on moving while going to this school, don't plan on them approving a zone variance... It won't happen..

My son has ADHD, for which he is being medicated. We were constantly being called in to required parent teacher conferences for these small, perceived slights. By 5th grade, the conferences were less but still present. He was getting Unsatisfactory citizenship grades across the board. He had gained a reputation among the teachers as the kid who misbehaves and was thus watched like a hawk and written up for the smallest of infractions. This reputation filtered down to his classmates, and he found himself a social pariah. When he moved on into 6th grade and onto a new faculty who didn't know him, he was seeing Outstanding and Satisfactory grades in citizenship. Basically, he misbehaved when he was younger and they never let him live it down. His grades and his social skills suffered as a result.

This school is pretty good but in 5 years it's going to be learning no spanish. On the other hand Special Ed/Needs students are not treated fairly. The spirit days are fun,but not always for everyone. It's good that the school is spreading the message to stop bullying through Be Kind and Peace Week.If you are enrolling your child in school next year they will not be learning spanish.

MY SON HAS BEEN GOING TO THIS SCHOOL FOR 4 YRS NOW AND I WOULD NOT CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL FOR HISM. MY OTHER SON WILL BE STARTING THIS YEAR AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW MUCH HE LEARNS! THE TEACHERS AT THIS SCHOOL ARE AMAZING AND HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR THERE STUDENTS.

Walker seemed to be a great choice for our son. We were excited about the Spanish program and the fact that he would have full days as a kindergartener. However there are downsides to the Spanish program. The children are only spoken to in Spanish for that portion of the day. Our experience as a first grader has been frustrating at best. The spanish only has become a hinderance. Math is taught in Spanish and the kids have fallen behind. This is my oldest child, so it is our first public school experience. Before choosing Walker I suugest weighing heavily how your child will respond in this learning environment. Looking at overall test scores and numbers on paper and learning a second language can be great selling points. However, I feel at this point (half way thru 1st grade)it is hindering him. He reads very few Spanish words and counts to 40. My point is that it's not ideal for every child.

I absolutely love this school! 2 of my children have attended and my youngest will be going next year. I love that my children are learning spanish and feel like it helps further their education. There is nothing more amazing than hearing your child converse with someone that speaks another language. We have even used our son to translate things for us! The teachers and staff are amazing and I would highly recommend Walker to anyone!

This school is amazing. I was worried about the Spanish component but my daughter has thrived in this environment. The teachers care so much about the kids and the kids love their school.

We are entering grade 3 and my son is excited for another school year. I read the reviews from about 4-5 yrs ago and think the students/parents suffered growing pains from the school changing into the Spanish program. We love it. We are not Hispanic and my son excels in the program. It is a joy to see his language grow and I know it will only benefit him for his future endeavors. I was hesitant at first, but now love the program, staff and administration. I agree that the emphasis on Spanish program limits the child to be pushed in other areas, so we get involved as parents and push at home. We continuously read and practice comprehension. We visit museums and discuss science/art. We explore dinosaurs and the planets. We do the best we can and I think my son will be just fine. You must be open to introduce a new language into your house, this is an optional school and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Dr. Walker for your fantastic school.

My daughter has attended this school since kindergarten and I have not had any bad experiences there. I think a lot of the issues have to do with the child. My daughter loves the school and the spanish program.

My son went here for kindergarten, he was treated excellent and managed the curriculum well. he is now at a school ranked 8 and is bored and not doing as well. This school is not for everyone, mostly not for children who are not top notch, Sorry, but the truth hurts.
