I have had one child go through school at Apollo and she was constantly struggling grades always low and no matter how much we tried to help the school taught her that she could goof off all year and do a little work the last couple of weeks and they would pass her anyway. I was the step parent and left on the outside except when it came to paying something. I’m not sure how this school got an 8/10 but a 2/10 would be a generous score.

Hey, student here. Honestly I had depression from 4-5th grade. I hated my life and it was all between of this school. The school system whatever, but the teachers were just ruining how I felt. However, all the staff other than teachers loved me. I did nothing, had only A and B grades, and hated my experience. My favorite part was graduation. No offense Apollo but do better. -A former Student

I have 2 children at Apollo and am VERY pleased! I have seen first hand that the teachers love and care about each and every student that walks through the door at Apollo, with no regard to race, gender, or background. The teachers we've had have been great at calling me when needed and returned any of my calls or messages quickly (biggie for me). My kids are inspired and motivated by the teachers to do their very best, and I'm so grateful the teachers are quick to get them back on track the few times they've needed it! We are very blessed to be at such a wonderful school.

We moved to bossier due to our military assignment. I have never experienced such prejudice in a school until we moved here. Their is no diversity among the staff. The minority children are not disciplined the same as the white children. I experienced this first hand. My son was sexually assaulted by a Caucasian girl in his class. All she received was a phone call to her parents. My son wrote "you suck" on a piece of paper and received in-school suspension. What's wrong with this picture? I'm going to fight for justice because it's the only way since the administration didn't find this serious. If the tables were turned my son would've been suspended or worse case expelled.

Apollo is the epitome of FAMILY. The administration and teachers are there because they love children and have a genuine passion for children and their education. After reading the reviews given, it is easy to see that one negative experience can alter one's perception. You can't base your opinion from one person or one incident. I am a very involved parent, but not part of any parent group, formal or informal. I just take the time to show my face and offer my support. It is funny how you get what you give....

Aug 2014 I will have a 2nd grader who has been there since K, and a Kindergardener. I have to say the one thing that really bothers me about this school is the snotty ladies in front office. I've come to realize being military, from Florida and very friendly, that is def a north Louisiana thing. PTA ... Gosh if you are not from here and not in their little click.. Don't bother volunteering to do things for them. They ask for help, u say I can... Then suddenly someone who they know volunteers. Leap testing is ridiculous.. Especially in Kindergardeners and first grade, but I guess that's Louisiana for you. My daughter has liked her teachers so far, is a great child. We shall see how they can accommodate a child with mild autism/ sensory issues. Over all the school is good.. Japan and Florida schools are better..

We have had a good experience at Apollo overall. I think the teachers are excellent, and they have made all the difference. They are experienced but not burnt-out. The 6 teachers we have had experience with genuinely care about the students and do what it takes to help them learn and ENJOY learning! From what I have seen, those 6 teachers are not the only ones like that at Apollo! Like other schools in the area, I feel that there is way too much emphasis on standardized testing and on fundraising. Parent involvement is high. I personally feel that all parents are welcomed into the PTL, even though I do feel that there is an inner circle in the PTL that is harder to become a part of. I have not been particularly impressed with the attitude of certain administrators towards adults, but they are not the ones who are with my children each day. Overall, I would definitely send my children here again. We chose Apollo originally because of the experience of the teachers, the diversity of the student body, and the praise that locals gave the school when we were searching for schools and a house. I am very happy with our choice!

I am very pleased with our experience at this school. My 4th and 2nd graders love Apollo, their teachers, the principal, and all the rest of the staff. I have always felt like I could talk to my children's teachers, the counselor, or even the principal about issues with my children. I am a proactive parent who takes my children's education very seriously, and I am happy to have the Apollo community on my team!

This school get high ratings I don't know why,, if a student has or needs special help it takes forever to get it if they ever get it, my daughter is been struggling with know special help. If your kids are already at a good level this school is good. But if they need help like I said befor it takes forever fir them to finally get what they need. Otherwise it's safe and friendly

As a mother of three boys, we have been at Apollo for many years. We have had an incredible journey. We were not happy with the Caddo school system, so we sold our house and moved to Bossier so that our boys could attend Apollo. We have not been disappointed! It has and still continues to meet our expectations. The principal, office staff, and teachers have always been supportive. You can see the love and support that they have for each and every child. They understand the importance of a good education and want to see that each child achieves the best possible. They are very dedicated to their profession!! I will be sad when my youngest child graduates from the Apollo "family". I am a proud mom because I know that my children have had the best possible education because Apollo IS the BEST. Thank you Prinipal Dupree and staff/teachers. Keep up the good work.

Teacher seem to think they are perfect and students are under such a microscope. They concentrate too much on teaching only what the children will need to know for any standardized testing, but could careless if they learn anything else. The best teacher was our second grade teacher. Never once did I worry or have any concern for my child's well being, however I do not feel this way at all this year. I will be looking to move out of this school district before next year. I will not continue to go through the democracy ways of Apollo. The principal and teachers really seem to think they are flawless and they have no true concern for the children. My son is a very good student, never in trouble so that is not the issue. He is actually a very well mannered, sweet, smart kid. I am only ranting because twice in two years he has been held out of recess, the only 30 minutes of being a child they get, for something that does not require punishment. Last year was for defending a child that was being bullied, my son got caught for stepping in the middle and this year for not returning a permission slip that we did turn in two weeks ago.

My daughter and I love this school. She attended public school for the first time after attending montessori through kindergarden. Ms. Dupree the principal, provides structure and encouragement for all the children. Ms Walker is one of the most enthusiastic and thoughtful first grade teachers I have ever met. We are sad to be leaving this wonderful school, moving out of town.
