The teachers and staff have tried very hard to be accommodating to my son. To help him grow. To show him patience, kindness, and understanding, even on days when he mumbles every word and doesn't sit still for more than a minute. They have a done a great job at focusing his energy and getting him to start reading! (So very proud!) Their speech therapist is also doing an amazing job at his pronunciations. The school was very helpful to our son the moment they found out he had a speech impairment. They set up a meeting right away to discuss sessions for him, and got my husband and I information on what protections our son has (from the school and kids). I would recommend Bluffton-Harrison Elementary School. They have always treated our family very well. They do seem to care about the kids. Oh, and the one time my son had to deal with a bully this year I told his teacher and she asked him about it (in front of me) and he explained about it a bit more. She moved her (the bully) the next day. It helps if they know about it. Just saying.

The teachers don't do anything about bullying until parents call in because there child is so upset with the situation. Then the third grade teachers shun the kid being bullied because someone in there click got in trouble. Then because the mother of this child works in the school the principal forces her to resign because the principal is part of the third grade teachers click also. And on top of all that they recruit all the disability kids from the area to get as much state funding as possible. Then they dont hire enough teachers aids to cover all the one on one disability students so they can come in under budget and pocket the extra cash. The special education leaders are all young and have no clue how to manage their disability students schedules. And they love starting drama between co workers because they are immature.

Adults who are suppose to be good examples for our children are the ones who are bullying and intimidating our children! I wouldn't want my children to attend this school cause I teach my kids this behavior is not excepted!

This school is fantastic. The staff has so much heart for their students. I have been nothing short of amazed with how well they connect with my son and encourage him to want to learn. They have great scores in the state ISTEP. The PTO is wonderful about offering a variety of free activities for families to participate in. I have nothing bad to say about BHES.
