Summit Academy High School provided my child with an excellent education. He also was able to thrive in co-curricular activities in a warm, nurturing environment. As a result (plus his own hard work and parental input), he is on full academic scholarship to college. I recognize that Summit's state test scores are not the best. I think part of the reason for that is that some kids go to Summit to have a safe, non-bullying environment and may not be as academically skilled as the norm. Another reason is likely due to the need for a new math department head and for the hiring and retention of excellent teachers (pay raise needed, etc.) The honors and AP courses my son took (not in math) were terrific.

I am currently in my early years over going to this school and have found it academically inviting. The environment is generally not very stressful and for the most part, accepting of differences. Discussion and research is encouraged and accepted. Homework is generally set to be helpful though not always. I would say it's a good experience so far, but I would like it if they had more math teachers to accomodate different learning abilities.
