I have 2 children with IEP's. We have had an amazing experience with Maryland and it's teachers and staff. They are excellent at communicating and have gone above and beyond for my boys. An aide even rode the bus home with my son when he wanted to stay at school instead of coming home this year. They consistently call to discuss any issues that arise and work with my very busy schedule with compassion and understanding. In a world where it feels like everything is harder for us because we have Atypical kiddos they make it feel easy and they make my boys feel loved, wanted and celebrated (even when they are struggling).

As a family, we were excited for a fresh start in our new house and our new school district (previous district was New Albany). We attended open house for new students and attended events such as special education pto ice cream social, skating, etc. Our excitement was quickly deflated by the slow response rate by Ms. Niswander (principal) and others. The staff has not been able to foster a bully-free and safe learning environment. Continuously working with the principal has resulted in a month long wait for bullying and assault. Save yourself the heartache and pick another district or a charter school.

Maryland Elementary is truly a special place. The teachers are very well trained, extremely caring, and most importantly, deeply committed to their students and the school overall. Parents are involved and supportive of one another (some work, some stay home), and communicate openly with the faculty and each other. The principal, Jon Hood, is approachable, adores his students, takes care of his staff, and fosters a supportive environment where students want to learn and are proud of their accomplishments. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful school this is and how fortunate we are to live in North Bexley and have access to such high quality education.

This is a truly amazing school. My daughter loves going to school and her reading and math skills are exploding. I love that they teach Spanish class in all grades. There is at least some diversity in the student body and almost all of the parents are involved in some way. The teachers love their jobs and care about our children. Communication is always fast. The song and dance skit that the entire staff put on during the annual talent show exemplifies why this is the best elementary school in Bexley! I love living here because of this school.
