Bayhill has been one of the best educational environments for our son with learning disabilities. The vast knowledge, compassion, teaching practices of staff, guidance from counselors, low student teacher ratio and supportive services are top notch. Our son is thriving at Bayhill and seeing him soar academically, emotionally and physically has been such a blessing! We highly recommend Bayhill for any student in need of alternative special education placement. Cannot say enough good things about this fantastic school!

We're so grateful that Bayhill exists and that our son has a place here. The teachers are amazing. The administration really gets the needs of students with learning challenges who don't fit into the public school system. Our son is getting the support he needs and is thriving. When he needs additional support, the administration and teachers work hard to come up with solutions. We highly recommend Bayhill High School's program for students with learning challenges who struggle in the typical school setting.

This school was highly recommended by a professional and we are so thankful. Our student has shown much progress in comparison to public schools that could not help in reaching set goals. Friendly staff. They seem to be aware of changes in student behaviors that affect both academics and personal relationships. They are great about conveying any concerns they might have for your student and offer any help you may need.

This school is a gem! The support for individual learning is terrific and each student is honored and respected. At the same time, the academics is rigorous and there is a broad approach to post high school transition plans.

Our daughter (11th grade) has had an outstanding experience at Bayhill since starting in 9th grade. The faculty, staff, and educational program have exceeded our highest hopes and expectations. Our daughter has significant learning differences and has thrived at Bayhill -- academically, socially, and emotionally. Small class size; individualized approaches to the curriculum; emphasis on teaching students to self-advocate; sports teams, field trips, school dances, student council, student clubs, peer support -- it all combines for an incomparable high school community. She feels valued, successful, and confident.

It's been good so far. But she is still in her first year.

Our son was really struggling at Berkeley High - the classes were too large for many of the teachers to help him individually. Bayhill has been much better for him.

My daughter has a number of learning differences which led to her being bullied and ostracized in what is considered to be an excellent public school. We first transferred her to Raskob Day School (a wonderful elementary and middle school). She has since transitioned smoothly to Bayhill. The teachers are excellent and can differentiate their approach with each student due to the small class sizes (usually about 10 students). The administration is fantastic with the kids and really knows what is going on. The band and art programs are exceptional for such a small school. This school helps students understand their learning issues, deal with them and become self-advocates.

My son has been successful here--he is a socially normal and athletic guy who struggles with ADD and dyslexia and who would have totally failed in a regular high school--instead he has been successful here with all the extra scaffolding and support offered and his confidence and ability to compensate for his deficits and self advocate has grown so much we are actually looking at four year colleges--something I NEVER imagined doing with him 5 years ago. It was four years of a long commute tho and he lost neighborhood friends in the process--but it was well worth it. And in all honesty, the Berkeley/Oakland kids are more his tribe than the local Walnut Creek kids, so despite the long commute it's been a perfect fit. I spend a lot of time driving thru the tunnel so he can hang out with friends, but it got better as he got older and got the hang of BART. His only complaint has been that there are more Boys than Girls and his local friends have more cute girls to date at the local high school; but he recognizes this is a small complaint compared to the fact he's been able to be successful some hard high school level courses and that he is now ready to face college.
