There is a huge new gym and auditorium. The principal is amazing and inspirational. My son has learned so much in his years at Hoover. I would highly recommend this school. The PTA is very involved and has put together some great programming for the kids. I think it is the best run school in Bergenfield.

Hoover is the best kept secret in BERGENFIELD. This small school represents about 200 kids - on average one class per grade. We have been so happy with the education our child is receiving. The teachers are outstanding, especially the resource teachers. Our child required extra help and he got it! They put him together with specialists and immediately he started to improve. They know what they're doing and they do it very well. The principal, Mr Flemming is excellent! He's a kind and caring leader and he preaches respect!! You can tell the teachers and kids love and respect him. He's brought about a lot of positive changes! Hoover now has the biggest gym in BERGENFIELD! It's beautiful! And the school is clean and decorated with the kids art projects. Is a positive environment amoung a very diverse student body. There are events through the year that bring the kids together. From Muti Culture Day (diversity day celebrating food and music from other cultures), Field Day (big outside game day ), Halloween parades, reading night...and more! We also use the SAAC after care which we find very good! They help the kids with homework and keep them safe until working parents can pick up their kids! It's a great school!

Teachers are ok, but there is so much that the school lacks.... Hoover School has an ok academic program, children can excel. However, there is no ESL learning class, your child will have to be sent to another school for that. The school does not have a gym, cafeteria or auditorium, the fact that the children have to eat their lunch in the classroom as well as have gym there (if the weather is not good). The resources available to the children are very limited. A majority of the parents do not speak English, so there is a low parental involvement, which affects the support of the parents. Not to mention, the current principal is horrible, she is not interactive with the students or the parents, she just sits in her office.

The smallest elementary school in Bergenfield, Hoover school gave me the attention that I needed as a student. My family moved to America when I was 4 years old, so I was not great at English. The ESL and Speech classes helped me greatly and I had straight A's in all my subjects by 5th grade, which boosted me to advance classes in middle school and so forth. This school was also given the Governor's School of Excellence award in 2004-2005.
