Both of my children have attended Cedar Tree and my oldest has special needs. The way that she has been embraced for her unique differences and the ability of each teacher to reach has been wonderful. We will be at Cedar Tree for another four years as our youngest finishes out her tenure there. We adore this special school.

My daughter was at Cedar Tree from 3th-6th grade. I just wished we had arrived sooner. I loved the community and to experience the real heartfelt diversity this school practices daily. I will forever treasure the deep connection and dedication that ALL the teachers have to every one of their students. Personally speaking for mine, I know they have made an impact and imprint and forever changed and formed my almost teen today. I could not have asked for a better environment and better mentors than all her teachers for her to graduate 6th year. I only wish all the schools had teachers like Cedar Tree.

Our daughter, who is now at Cascades Montessori Middle School, attended Cedar Tree from 2nd year through 6th year. The fact that she is a focused, competent, resilient adolescent, capable of emotional intimacy and a deep respect for herself, others, and the world around her is credited in a large part to her experiences at Cedar Tree. Their individualized and engaged approach to learning, the fantastic teacher to student ratio, and the dedication and kindness of her teachers all combined to create the ideal learning environment for her.I cannot recommend this school highly enough.

Our two children attended Cedar Tree from first through sixth grade. We feel blessed that we found this school when public Kindergarten was not working for our oldest child. Cedar Tree is an amazing learning environment with incredibly dedicated teachers. The teaching is very individualized with the goal of helping students where they might have challenges, helping them to excel, and allowing them to explore areas of interest. The environment is nurturing, welcoming, and respectful of differences. My children developed a love of learning as well as excellent academic skills. Just as important, they have developed into kind and compassionate global citizens. The teachers and staff are responsive to questions and concerns. They are available by email, phone, or at the school. It is easy to catch them for a quick chat before or after school or to set up a meeting. There are also many volunteer opportunities for parents and this is a great opportunity to feel connected to the school community.Cedar Tree also does an amazing job of arranging for offsite activities (skating, swimming, bowling for PE), visits to art studios for creative outings, field trips to Mount Baker theater, etc. They do all this on a shoe string budget because they care about the students, their education, and their personal development. I would highly recommend Cedar Tree!

My children are now in college but having attended Cedar Tree was life-changing for them and for our family. The ideals held by Kim and her staff have not wavered as the school has grown from a portable trailer to a beautiful campus. I honestly cannot say enough good things about our experiences there.

Our daughter is a sophomore in High School now. She spent her entire elementary time at Cedar Tree. She continues to have a love of learning and a big heart for others. Thanks Cedar Tree.

All three of our children went through the school and we are very happy with how things turned out. I will say that as a parent you will benefit greatly by being involved with your child's experience at the school. There are several ways to volunteer at the school that we found very rewarding.

So disappointed. After having had such positive experiences with other Montessori programs, we found Cedar tree to be utterly disappointing. They simply do not follow the core aspects of the Montessori philosophy.

Cedar tree is wonderful. Our son was in two years of preschool/kindergarten. He would ask all though the summer when school was starting again because he missed it. They engage each child individually. He is kid who might get lost in a more traditional classroom, but here, they have worked with us to help him where he needs help, and allow his gifts to shine. They do run on a shoestring too - it is the dedication of the teachers and staff that keeps the place running so well.

CTM is great. Dedicated teachers (amazing), great teacher-to-student ratio, curriculum targeted to each student. The school teaches a big world view but in a small, friendly neighborhood way. It's also amazingly lean--almost no admin staff, so it's very inexpensive for a private school. Again, the level of individual attention is amazing. (E.g., we typically have had 3-4 teachers sit in for our parent-teacher sessions.) Because the school is small, they also try to do a lot of stuff outside of school, and they manage to do good stuff (field trips, phys ed--swimming, gymnastics, etc.--on a tight budget). Our sons is doing very well in math and has leaped into reading, thanks largely to CTM teachers. ... Also, the kids really learn to do project independently, especially writing/research papers, and they learn/practice public speaking at an early age. All great stuff that is lacking in many students now coming out of high school and hitting college with dismal skills.

Cedar Tree Montessori Kindergarten program. The program is ONLY geared towards pre-school age 1-4 years of age. My daugheter cried every morning and she NEVER has done that with previous schools. We were only there for 3 weeks and I took my daughter out and I got stuck with a full months tuition, which I refuse to pay and now attorneys are involved. Ridiculous...I tried to contract teachers and directors 3 different times about certain issue with NO response back.
