The MS does a great job preparing students for HS, the teachers are engaged and administration works hard to make every student count. They are serious about the school moto CARES and strictly enforce it. Many clubs and sports options. Very Happy I moved into the community, great families.

FLMS has thrived under Principal Ostrofsky, who is truly a special administrator. It is well run, and provides a great experience for its students. As with any school, it is up to the student to take advantage of all that is offered, whether it be sports or after school clubs - FLMS offers a large selection of both. The school is in no way a 5, and the Great Schools ratings do not tell the whole story. This is a very diverse community, whereas surrounding districts offer no diversity whatsoever. The district as a whole does a lot for its special needs learners, whatever their struggles. The staff often goes above and beyond what they are required to do. Anyone considering Bedford should talk to people who live in the district. Do not just look at numbers to make your decision, because the district schools are excellent.

The school is great. We have had two kids go through elementary and currently in middle and high school.

The good news: your child might well like this school - mine has a good time, the other kids are pleasant. The bad news: academically very weak. My child gets outstanding grades - A's, always. All my child's friends get A's. State scores, however, mark my child as about average (thank goodness for state tests, otherwise we'd think the teachers were doing an amazing job). There is little-to-no homework. Some teachers don't even hand out the correct answers to tests - just let the kids how many they got wrong. Almost zero writing work - obv writing is the hardest to grade, but my child hasn't had a challenging writing sequence since grade school.

Overall a decent school. I will say that the bullying, particularly the online bullying is relentless. I don't believe the school has a grasp on this. Admittedly, I don't believe many schools do. The academics are good but the budget problems for the district continue to be an issue.

I have read several reviews of the the Fox Lane School dated between 2007 - 2011.A lot has happened in the community recently that has changed the school. There are more and more Latinos (at present 33%) attending. This population is growing far faster than any other demographic making the culture split. Many resources ie tax dollars go to seemingly unnecessary projects like rebuilding the fields and most of the campus property.

Outstanding middle school organized as three "houses" to help students adapt to a school which is larger than their elementary school. Incredible opportunities for all students in the arts, music, drama, sports, clubs, etc.

Overall a good school. The facilities definitely need updating, but budget constraints make this difficult. The new Capital Plan will (hopefully) address much needed updates to the science labs, which haven't changed since I went to school here back in the early 80's. The teachers and staff her are the real stars - most seem to really love their jobs and the kids. A few bad apples are normal and expected. Not giving 4 stars because of a lack of more challenging courses for students who need it.
