I have 3 children at Grafflin and they have had wonderful experiences there. The school has great leadership with the principal and assistant principal; a caring and attentive support staff of custodians, admins, and security; and an outstanding group of teachers. The school and parents support many extracurricular programs to expose the children to different topics, through assemblies, after-school enrichment, and special family activities. In the classroom, the children (my children at least) have enough work to be challenged without being overwhelmed. Homework is consistent and manageable. Overall, we've had a great experience at the school.

Excellent school, that is nurturing and preparing our children well for higher learning. Our girls look forward to school which is wonderful.

The school became amazing under the leadership of our new principal. It was terrific before but now, outstanding. This school always had excellent teachers but the new leadership brings warmth, emphasis on whole child and character development, social responsibility to our community, the idea that as a school we are a more cohesive unit. She has done this through more social programming that the school really benefits from and The way the classes were done this year was remarkable and noteworthy and my child is so excited to go to school and get learning done. Edelman works to break up cliques, exclusion, and bring each child to their fullest social potential as well as their academic. And believe me the academic are there!! My child is being pushed and thriving. Extremely happy. Bring your child to this school and don't look back. The parents are very nice and easy to befriend. The new families committee is there to welcome you in.

The Principal is retiring and the school is looking for a replacement. Talented people please apply and make the school a better learning place.

Grafflin is a special place. The teachers, administrators and facilities are all first rate. We moved here (like everybody else) specifically for the schools and we have not been disappointed. I feel that its a privilege to be able to send my kids to Grafflin. We moved from a well regarded district in southern westchester and there is NO comparison. Every teacher "we" have had takes an interest in each child - the parent/teacher conferences have blown us away with how well each teacher knows our kids. The principal is outstanding and is open to both the children and parents. Parent involvement is significant, which in my opinion reinforces the high standards set by the school staff.

Overall, the school is pretty good. I judge the school from safety, teachers' quality, and whether the staff members are friendly. One of the previous posts talked about 2+ hours per night of homework. It never happened to any of my two children. I would say they don't/didn't spend more than 30 minutes each day. The older child had two substitute teachers two years in a row, but followed with two excellent teachers in the next two years. We are very grateful for the two excellent teachers. Our children have never been in other primary schools, so I don't know how this school compares with others. For some reasons, my older child who is now in Robert Bell Middle School likes the Bell better.
