We have enjoyed the 4 years we have been at Lone Tree School! All the teachers have been great at helping my children learn to the best of their abilities. My kids loved Shady Creek -5th grade Outdoor School week, the Renaissance Program (incentive program to motivate the kids) and the Fall Harvest Festivals.

Lone Tree has many issues. Because the school serves a military base, students come and go, so the teachers and leadership do not show much incentive to resolve issues. There are some good teachers, some bad and everything in between. My child has special needs, and this school does not have adequate support in place for children with special needs. One year a teacher and her aid bullied him so much that he cried himself to sleep almost every night. It was so heartbreaking. This teacher clearly resented having a child with special needs in her class, and she constantly complained to me about how difficult it is for the other students. If you get stationed at Beale AFB, do yourself a favor and live off base. Even if your child is neurotypical, most of my friends who have children at this school do not like it either. Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln have much better schools. Try to live there and commute to Beale.

What a fantastic school. I have two kids who have been attending this school for nearly three years now. One began in transitional-K and the other in 3rd grade. The teachers are wonderful, the kids really seem to enjoy learning, parent involvement is high, and I couldn't be happier. There's a wonderful after school program for those parents who need to work late. The kids have time to do homework, given time in a computer lab, rooms with various hands-on activities, and are provided snacks to keep them engaged and hungry for more learning. The lack of after school activities can be an issue for some but there's a youth center across the street and/or activities just off base. I like the student/teacher ratio although numbers seem to getting higher (not necessarily a bad thing - they brought in some new teachers this year). The teachers my kids worked with are extremely competent having been around for decades. What a friendly staff and welcoming school! If you're trying to decide between a local, off base school vs. Lone Tree, take my advice. Stick with Lone Tree. We made the mistake of going with another school district and have lived to regret it.

I transferred my daughter to Lone Tree after her math test scores suffered in another district. The intervention programs at Lone Tree are amazing. The students set goals and are rewarded when the meet them. Learning is fun for the students and parent involvement is high. I started my daughter in Kindergarten at this school as well and am very pleased. The teachers and principal are great and very approachable. They truly care about each and every student.
