The worst experience. The office staff was horrible and rude, not to mention the school does NOTHING at all about bullying. They also do not follow 503 guidelines per the policy. We pulled my child from this awful school and she is now thriving with a 4.0 gpa elsewhere. The place, atmosphere, and right teachers can make or break kids. This one almost broke mine and I'm glad I made the decision to remove her.

This school let me get bullied, hurt, and mentally crushed. They advertise their safety as their cameras don't work. They are horrible at keeping up with accommodations and also won't help you if they decide that you "aren't disabled enough". They never update grades so it is almost impossible to keep up with missing work. The teachers (not all, mostly new ones) will not teach engagingly and just read from the book or a slideshow. It is not safe! Drugs and sex run rampant around this school. Do not send your child here.

I have sadly attended Bastrop high school for 4 years now, and I am sorry if you are planning to enroll your child at this school. Walking down the halls of Bastrop High you can see the leaking roofs and broken windows throughout. Your lucky if you enter a restroom that does not have some sort of malfunction or vandalism in it. However the integrity of the school is not all that matters because the staff should be the most critical, yet Bastrop High school fails to deliver on this also. Besides the few teachers who actually enjoy to do there job and do it correct the rest of the teachers seem to rather move, or quite when dealing with the plague of stupidity that travels in the school. Teachers being fired for soliciting drugs or teachers quitting due to not enough pay is common. Another thing that is common is the good old gas leaks or drug test, which seem to be the only thing reliable at Bastrop

Please read this if your children will be transferring from another state. This is not the school you want your children to go to. If your child takes the regular classes, not very many teachers are dedicated to bastrop high and will not go the lengths they should. If they are an AP student, the classes are not rigorous enough. I can count on one hand the amount of good teachers I've had, and I've had about 20 teachers during my time here. Also, if you have a student much smarter than belongs in the district, the school will lack in effort to supplement your child's needs, trying to shove them in whatever class they think is best and taking weeks to get back to parents. If your child struggles in school, the teachers will not exceed anything past what they are paid for to help, your child will struggle more. For children that are leaders and are not affected by others behavior, this school will cause unnecessary stress, and if they are a follower, there are way too many behavior issues (drugs, smoking, being disrespectful, and immaturity) that will most likely bid the worst traits for your child. The school had no idea how to communicate with parents or students unless they want money. A great sum of school funding goes to sports, while other programs barely have a large enough budget for one semester. This school is notorious for its high pregnancy rate, and is a closed campus because the kids act outrageously and cannot be trusted to leave. Their academic standards for what they believe makes a good classroom is based on saying the same routine everyday that does not work and having kids without phones, when it should require so much more. Some teachers don't even pay attention to students, when you ask them questions they give you totally unrelated answers. There are shattered windows everywhere from students with anger problems. I am suprised this is a school for the average Public and not for delinquents. I hope you consider relocating to a nearby town if you are moving for a job. If you must live in bastrop, I am very sorry ahead of time how much bhs will dissapointed you.

I think that everyone should know that Bastrop High School provides a safe learning environment for students. BHS gives students ample opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities. The school clubs are active and strive to create an authentic student interest in the club and community. As the school has a lower student enrollment (due to an additional high school in the district recently) I believe there will be opportunities to grow in areas other than enrollment numbers. There is an opportunity to create a great high school.

awesome! Our administrators, teachers and students are working hard to raise the bar on academic achievement and college preparedness. In 2013 we were named a School of Academic Distinction by state of Texas. We are determined to match or beat that rating again this year. We have college professors teaching Early College Start classes on campus who ask to return year after year because our students are engaged, polite and active in class. We invite anyone to walk onto our campus and feel the school spirit that fills our halls.

I have been very pleased with Bastrop High School. I have three children that graduated from BHS. The education they received has allowed them to pursue their goals at major universities here in Texas. Two of my children have earned their Bachelors and landed wonderful jobs in cities of their choice. In a month, the third will earn an MBA.

I have worked at BHS for over 20 years and have seen many changes. Currently we are an innovative, college and career driven, public high school with a very hard-working, caring staff. There are many opportunities for students to be involved and participate if they so choose.

Bastrop High School is not at all a good school. The administration is utterly incompetent, most of the teachers have no real enthusiasm (There are several, that is to say <7orso really great teachers who put up with this for some reason). The counselors, or at least mine, were much worse even that the administration. The career center was very limited in it's usefulness. Students there are, for the most part, closed-minded and have little will to participate in an academic environment. The school's clubs/organizations are not top-notch at all, and they are starting to disappear as well. If you send your child to this school I highly recommend trying to reach out into extra-curriculars and outside studying because almost nothing in this school is going to put your child in their/your university of choice. There are, though, several very excellent teachers. Most are terrible though. I've been taught by some teachers here who really don't care at all. And why should the students care if the teachers don't.
