When we moved to this school zone, we were concerned because Spessard L Holland Elementary had a fairly low GreatSchools rating. We are on our third child through the school experience has been terrific and in my opinion, warrants a much higher score. Everyone we've been involved with at the school has been open, approachable, positive, and seem to really care about the well being and the education of our children. The principle is very involved and I think does a fantastic job leading and encouraging the entire staff to be positive and caring. The ciriculum is very standardized but I can honestly say the teachers try to stick with that ciriculum but also go beyond and foster a creative atmosphere. My review sounds like it was from a staff member trying to make the school sound good but honestly, us and our children had nothing but good experiences with Spessard L Holland.

My child has been at SLHE since 2012 and is now in 4th grade. At first I was concerned with the quality of her education here but I came to see that it is not the school, but the teachers. This year her teacher (Jaime Ruiz) has been exceptional! She is engaging and funny and my daughter has never been more interested in learning.

My kids have been here for 2yrs and we moved here from Chicago. This school is amazing compared to the big city schools I would never have let my kids attend those schools. As with all schools there are a few things they need to tweak but over all I can't complain.

This school is FANTASTIC! We moved from a different area in Florida where we had our daughter in private school & were reluctant to the idea of "public school" especially given the fact our daughter has some "special needs." But we are into our 3rd year & could not be happier! The teachers & administration are wonderful to work with. They want the very best for ALL students! My advice is to simply involve yourself in the school (even if it's just a couple of hours a year). The PTA is not "demanding" of your time & getting involved is easy! I would not trade schools for anything... ESPECIALLY if you have a child in the special needs program! The level of excellence at Spessard in this specific area is one of a kind!

SLHE is a very good school. They engage and challenge my child academically and parent involvement is welcomed. Administration is the best in the county. However, SOME of the teachers are very rude and unprofessional. I was warned by other parents in the county who opted to have their children in other schools because of this issue.
