my school is Bandon, OR middle school and they have wonderful lunches unlike most school. At H.L.M.S we get lots of choses that are healthy and taste good. this school could improve on more dances and fun activities. we have a nice principal and around 217 students.

Upon our move from this school they could not get our childs files transferred to the new school. The new school and myself contacted this school multiple times to get the files sent. Then only part of the file was sent. At one point this middle school told me they had transferred my childs files to the local high school then proceeded to question why my child had not been in school for months. As I explained that we had moved they then went on to try to lay blame on our family and my child for not having a withdraw form filled out by every teacher at the end of the year so they could know my child would not be attending the following year at the high school. My spouse and I walked with my child to get this withdraw form filled out by every teacher and return books etc. it was then turned into the office by us so somewhere along the way after receiving the form at the office it was misplaced. It is quite frustrating to be told to follow set procedures that the school has in place only to have them not follow as well. A complete waste of time on our part as well as our new schools. For my child the school atmosphere was nothing to be desired, quite cliquish including some teachers.

My family just recently relocated to Bandon from a neighboring community. I have to say that the schools are the main reason for the move. While other schools around the local school districts score in the range of 2, 3 and 4's Bandon schools were 8's, all ranked as some of the highest in the stated for test scores. We have been very pleased with all of the schools, especially Harbor Lights Middle school. I have two children attending this school and they have been able to excel at this school. Both are on the honor roll and are achieving better scores and grades than at their previous schools. This is without the "extra credit" mentality that we have seen in other Oregon schools to bring students grades up. The teaching staff and administration have been a blessing. Always helpful and have a smile for us and the children at the school. They are very dedicated to what is best for the students. We have been very happy with the coaches and the positive manner in which they coach. Yes there are some children that just do not accept they are at practice to practice and not enough parents that are involved. We have been very pleased with every aspect of this school.

My two children attend Harbor Lights Middle School. I have found the staff to be caring and helpful in every way. Of course there are issues, but most of those actually come from other children and not from the school. I feel like the administration and teachers work their hardest to help kids be successful, and a lot of times it is an uphill battle. School can't be all things to all people, but I wouldn't have my kids go anywhere else.
