My children have been attending Baldwin schools from pre k to HS. The schools have a lot to offer and the teachers and staff genuinely care about the success of the children. Many opportunities in the district outside of the classroom for hands on learning. If parents are involved and children want to and are encouraged to learn, recipe for success.Baldwin community is great!

hello. i am a student from this school and will be becoming a 7th grader this year. and I can say that in my first year in this school, it started off fine, everything normal. but as the year progressed it became different. more fights, bullying and the school tired to stop it, but in my opinion they could’ve put more effort into stopping it. because what they did, did absolutely nothing. it made it worse. fight happened every day, and lol the students slowly got more drained, rude, and tired. now i know that if you are a parent, you probably don’t think this at all, maybe because your kids haven’t told you, or they’ve never said what happens exactly. now that’s just what happens on an average basis, but i’ll move on to staff. yes, i know they will always be strict teachers. but i don’t ill assure you i am not overreacting. once, I thought I was in trouble, and my friend hugged my teacher saw, and said “don’t touch each other. its not allowed” this may have been a mistake, but still how do you mistake hugging for something else? it just confuses me. many of my friends have cried in school, over stress and anxiety. if this school system could try to improve that, it would help a lot. i know all school stress children. ‘it’s normal’. but they should honestly care more about our mental heath. yes we have guidance, but nobody really wants to go to that. we need less stress, and more freedom. if any people don’t agree with me, you can have your own opinion. this school is way different then what it probably once was, now that it’s 2024, nobody even cares anymore. how they act, or what they do. anything schools will say will never convince them. i don’t think anything will. many of my family members asked if i wanted to be homeschooled when i told them this. because they aren’t used to schools being like this. they teach us well, but nothing will make us interested in doing anything. we need more encouragement. since all of the children are tired. they have their own problems. and another life. so, all i’m saying is, in my first year at a new place, all of this happened. this school should care more about the health of students, put more effort into stopping bullying, and way more. as i said, i am a soon to be 7th grader, and i am slightly scared, for what this year will hold.

I have 2 sons that have attended the middle school and I believe they received a solid education. Both my children tested into the honors classes and did well. My children observed that their classmates were interested in learning and excelling academically. My oldest son graduated Baldwin Senior HS and went on to an Ivy League college. My youngest son is currently at the HS and continues to excel academically. My children have classmates with similar experiences. The quality education here has been one of the highlights for us moving to this area 9 years ago.

Many fights occurring on a weekly basis in bathrooms and lockers rooms and no teachers or person of authority in sight- it's very concerning.I watched a fight that happened last week that happened at the end of a class involving 8th grade girls not one teacher came out of their classrooms and i saw about 3 classroom doors through the entire video. A security guard finally showed up at the end of the video but these two girls were fighting for a while. It's unacceptable!

My child has started this middle and my perspective is the children are treated like inmates. Even inmates has room for formation and character building seemingly. The displinary action for this school is from one extreme to the next. The Education department is aware that for the last four years children has been inadversely affected by the constant use of digital devices such as labtop, phones, ipad and especiallly exposure and access to absolutly anything on the internet. The children interaction are unlike any times before time. Every day it six or more fights and its always suspension, almost every displinary action is suspension or ISS. The children are held at a higher standard than teacher. Teachers who dont teach, prejudice or partial weaponizing their authority gets a pass. They are not held accountable for their actions. This school living off of pass glory is now using a hammer which in time pass was not exercise or uterlize even when children was found in similar or same predicament. ;The PTA team is a joke how can they allow the school administration to use suspension and question why they have acquired different actions to help student. Its almost systematic approach of creating a student rap sheet for students. The method of discipline is clearly not working. And Superintendant of this district sits in her ivory tower and does nothing to help thes children, prehaps the some members and the current superintendant love the fact they can make rap sheets for these children and not find an alternative action for repremanding students. Parents seriously need to pay attention and prevent this systematic plague upon our children.

FIghts almost everyday. Teachers are rude and disrespectful.

This school is one of the worst schools I've been to, they do not take anything seriously and the principals, counselors, and other staff are just terrible at their jobs and I believe this school should just be shutdown.

While the school is good and the majority of the teachers are concerned regarding the children, there are some improvements that need to be addressed. Principal, Maher, seems strict at first, however he seems to be timid and often confused when it actually comes to punishing the children that actually engaged in the "bullying." The principal, or more than likely the district will not define what is "bullying." I assume because they have to report such incidents to the state and they are simply scared to say this problem does exist. So they deny...deny...and deny some more that bullying does exist! Principal Maher has gone as far to state in the last know your school night (August 2016), negative reviews on such websites such as this "lower your property value." Was that a nice way of manipulating the issue so no parent complains or they just don't care? The school is inept when it comes to dealing with this issue. Secondly, the dress code is not enforced although they say it is is. But if you look around, most of the boys have their pants sagging off their rear end. How is that enforcing the dress code is anyone's guess. Again, these are some issues that exist with this school and I'm sure as other schools have these issues too, but does that mean we should not be informed and speak up about it?

I'm an eighth grade student attending this school, and it's a very good school. I transferred to BMS last year and overall the academics are great (I'm an honors student), there is a wide variety of enjoyable extracurricular activities, and the staff are nice, very helpful and understanding. I'm surrounded by amazing people who made adjusting to a new school a whole lot easier. Generally speaking, the school could be cleaner. The lunches are good but some are a bit pricey. There are a lot of fights, but the staff are trying their best to prevent them and spread positivity instead. In my opinion, if you are surrounded by the right group of people and aren't looking for trouble, then you shouldn't have to worry.

My daughter started 7th grade last September 2015. I was worried about her being safe and challenged. The school has a very involved Principal and concerned teachers. My daughter is being challenged everyday in the in the advanced program and she is happy there. I think the school is doing great. As all middle schools you find some rowdy pre-teenagers but the Principal and the staff are working very hard to keep disturbance to a minimum.

Baldwin Middle School is amazing! Most of the teachers are sooo nice, and teach us as much as they can to make us better people! The lunch is good, and they have a salad line, to keep us nice and healthy. If you're a new student, stay away from the stuff that looks bad, like THE BACON BITS. I love how they have personal dressing to choose from, and it really helps you personalize your sandwich, wrap, or salad. The principal has his ways but he tries to make us the best he can. The only problem about BMS, is how some of the kids influence others, and to be honest any school would change you like ours, but you have to know to be yourself, and not curse like a sailor, get into fights, and act like a "gangster". if you can get through that, get through honors, and face the fact that some people will turn on you, and you will loose friends in the 3 years you're there, you'll have an amazing time :)

My daughter learned a lot from this school... She was in ALL honors & struggled in Science but with extra help & tutoring she did wonderfully on her regents.... I was definitely worried about sending her to this school but the teacher were wonderful... Yes the kids can be rowdy but we have parents must take some responsibility on who are kids are around. My daughter made some great friends... Great school overall

This school is fun and many activities to do. But now since there is a budget cut some sports and clubs have been cut from the school. In school there are a lot of fights in the 7th and 8th grade over basically nothing. Most of the teachers are nice. No one follows the dress code. The principle is strict. The halls are a little crowed between classes. But over all the school is good and teaches kids good life lessons.
