Patton Elementary is an incredible school that has grown and evolved significantly over the years, becoming a cornerstone of West Oak Hill’s rapidly improving community. As the neighborhood transforms and attracts new families, the positive impact on the school has been remarkable. With property values rising and tax dollars flowing into local schools, Patton has benefitted greatly, becoming a hub for parents who prioritize education and community. One of the standout aspects of Patton Elementary is its phenomenal staff. Over the last two years, I’ve witnessed a shift in teacher engagement and dedication. The faculty here go above and beyond, fostering an environment where students not only learn but thrive. The curriculum is innovative and enriching, tailored to encourage curiosity and critical thinking, which has been a huge draw for families moving into the area. The staff is warm, approachable, and committed to creating a nurturing space for children, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. What sets Patton apart even more is the changing demographic of West Oak Hill. As the area becomes more sought after, it’s bringing in amazing families who are invested in their children’s success and the school’s progress. Over the last two years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting incredible parents who share a passion for education and community building. These connections have been one of the highlights of my time here, and it’s bittersweet now that my son has graduated.Year after year, I’ve seen noticeable progress at Patton. Post-pandemic, the school has made tremendous strides in creating a positive and effective learning environment. From the quality of programs to the upgraded facilities, everything seems to be moving in the right direction. It’s heartening to know that this school is a place where children are encouraged to reach their potential, supported by engaged teachers and like-minded families. If you’re considering West Oak Hill, Patton Elementary is a shining example of why this area is worth investing in. The combination of a growing, vibrant community and a school that consistently improves makes this neighborhood a fantastic choice for families. Highly recommend both the school and the area—it’s a place where education and community truly come together.

This used to be a great school before 2020 there are good teachers at the school I've had many of my kids go to the school then a part of the school for 8 years the old principal was amazing the new principal is all talk and it sounds great she says everything you want to hear but has no action whatsoever behind anything she says I've had many occasions with different kids where she was supposed to be where she said she was and never showed faith her smile is beautiful her intense sounds great but her action fails there are a few bad seeds in teachers here. There are wonderful teachers here as well but I have seen a few go I don't know why I can only assume but there are amazing teachers there and I feel for them because this isn't a great work environment I bet it was wonderful 5 years ago but now it's different I had a serious problem with special needs those teachers are now gone and the new teachers there are amazing but there has been some incidences at the school

Great teachers made our experience wonderful at Patton. Thankful we were able to transition our kids to this great community.

I’m deeply disappointed with the special ed services. AISD is said to have a cookie cutter approach to address a wide variety of special needs. They hold their purse strings tightly for services and training the staff to address those needs. I’m embarrassed to say that we attend this school.

This is an excellent school. The principal is very responsive and personable. The teachers I encountered really are passionate about helping the children. The special education department deserves mega praise from me personally and I highly recommend this school if your child has a learning disability. The staar testing scores might be lower than some schools but do not let that let you assume they are not great educators. Not all students are great test takers. They teach to educate not just to take a standardized test. It’s a big school with a small close community feel. I will miss it!

I send my daughter to school everyday hoping and expecting that she will stay on track academically, that she will be safe, and that she will be treated with care and respect. We have been with Patton for 3 years now and I feel strongly that all of my expectation are being met everyday.

I have three children at Patton. I love it, but more importantly, THEY love it. There is such a community feel at this school, despite its large enrollment. I feel so comfortable sending my children into school each morning. The teachers and administration really care about the children and make them feel welcome and special. There is also an amazing network of caring parents that are involved in making this school a wonderful place to learn. We are considering moving for my husband's job, and it makes me sad to think about leaving Patton.

Simply put... do not take your children here. Transfer if you have to. Principal Brantley and both Assistant Principals, Styskal and Frageman, are there for a paycheck, not for the children.

My son received services through the Child-Find program for being on the autism spectrum here at Patton through their PPCD program (preschool program for children with disabilities). I can't say enough good things about his teachers. The quality of the education and services he received from his special education, para-educator, and his pre-school teacher was incredible. They knew my son's strengths, as well as the areas where he struggled, often better than I did, and brought him out of his own world and into our own. They loved him and he loved them and he loved going to school every day. They understood him and his needs, while also being so intuitive and adaptive in teaching HIM specifically. I can't say enough good things. We truly miss Patton since moving to Seattle. For you parents struggling to know who can help your child who is on the autism spectrum: The teachers at Patton can.

First year we dealt with bullies to which the teachers response was not helpful nor understanding. I felt like my kids class was too easy. Teachers aren't teaching enough. There was little communication between the teacher and I and that was disappointing . My child would comment about how the teacher was constantly on her phone everyday, during class. Teachers shouldn't be surfing the net, texting while they should be teaching. I send my kid there to learn but so far I've not been impressed with the level of teaching at this school.

We moved to SW Austin just so our children could attend Patton. We've been Patton Pioneers for 6 years now and each year has consistently been great. The teachers are caring and attentive. Each one has demonstrated a truly maternal/paternal interest in my kids. Even when my eldest moved on to middle school (Small), previous teachers inquire about how she's doing and send love and well wishes. I can't speak highly enough of Patton and our positive experiences with it. Our second child has three more years there and I believe that we will continue to be just as delighted with it as we have been for the last six. Thank you to everyone at Patton, from the educators to the office staff, nurse, custodians, lunchroom staff, volunteers, you have ALL made my children's elementary school years an absolute pleasure!

Truly exceptional administrative, teaching and support staff. Inspiring mix of children from all over the world enthusiastic about learning and becoming responsible adults. Beautiful family atmosphere with a strong sense of personal safety, active no-bullying policy and dignity-protecting disciplinary practices. The school counselor is super-experienced, the specials (PE, Art & Music) teachers are always enthusiastic, parent volunteers go beyond the call of duty and the "extras" the school provides in the learning environment is remarkable. My child has been here for some years, and I wouldn't have him in any other school. :-) Patton simply ROCKS!
