It is really fun for the first few years. However, after the first year or so you begin to question their method of teaching students. It is a very difficult transition in and out of the school. In addition, they do not offer essential things to any child's learning. They do not have history classes, social studies, and art class. There is no homework, and it is easy to not pay attention and not learn anything for months, and the teachers would not care and/or notice.

Good school? Yes. Great? not so sure.My child was a student at this school for a few years, in my opinion it was good but not great as promised. I was very excited when we first had that initial introduction telling us that the children would develop curiosity, individuality and so on. However, it is a system like any other, and the children have to adapt to the way things are taught here, if they try to do something in a different way (meaning the traditional way) they are discouraged, but not everyone finds a completely different system of education easier. I believe that a combination of a traditional and an innovative education method would be a better mix since after all the children will be back in “the real world” for middle school or high school at the latest, and then they will need to adapt while their grades will be part of their GPA.All the subjects offered are well selected and the classes are interesting and engaging. I loved that aspect of their curriculum; another plus was their student evaluations because the teachers seem to care about the children and presented deep observations for each child, and some interesting suggestions for the parents. I was informed that for the selection process they didn’t do an actual test. However most of the selected students were really fast and good at math, so I am not sure if the school made a difference. I liked the Monday-Thursday week but then I realized that music, art, and sports and are a really important part of a child’s education and I see no reason for them not to offer these classes on Fridays.

What a special school! My 2 children have very different learning styles and both thrived at Long-view. The school sparks a passion for learning and feeds children’s curiosity. My children not only wanted to go to school everyday but wanted to get there EARLY!!! The kids came home eager to “drive their own learning” virtually every single day. Whether exploring a topic they discussed in campfire, trying out new code, or reading something suggested by a friend or teacher, the kids came home happy and craving more. I really can’t praise the school enough —it is such a wonderful place to learn!

Long-View Micro School is a magical place. First and foremost, it attracts some of the very best teachers in the city (and country) -- highly experienced professionals who are constantly honing their craft. Next, it provides a highly-personalized, highly-collaborative community where children feel that they matter -- they have a voice and agency in their own education, and they are seen as highly capable, trust-worthy individuals. As such, they are given a great deal of responsibility. At the same time, they are offered things that children need including plenty of unstructured time in nature (they have an hour long lunch at a nearby park where they play int he creek) and guidance on important "soft skills" like communication, navigating interpersonal relationships, and leadership. It makes such a difference -- my daughter (4th grade) has THRIVED in this environment -- she is a different kid than a few years ago. To boot -- and this is really the icing on the cake -- there is no artificial "ceiling" placed on what kids are exposed to (e.g. "levels" or even "grade") -- in this environment she is learning algebraic systems of equations and probability in math (in fourth grade), designing experiments, writing complex essays over several weeks, and coding in Python. Amazing!

Our son is starting his second year at LongView and he is so happy to be back at school. What a change! The teaching is top notch and the collaboration between the teachers and the students creates an environment where challenging learning is fun. The students are all very kind children too. Could not be happier at LongView.

Long-View was founded by very experienced teachers that have a clear vision. They successfully implement that vision in a clear and precise manner. My child is constantly challenged and extremely happy and I feel fortunate to have found this wonderful school.

Our son has been there since shortly after the school opened. We have 3 other children that have gone through the public school system and went on to higher education. This school is not conventional as there are no desks or firm class periods. They have the freedom to prolong or shorten any topic depending on progress and understanding. Our son is one of the youngest there and he is doing math, science and computer coding my other kids did in 7th and 8th grade and he is comprehending it so much better. The progress he has made in a very short period of time is astounding. Also, we can not say enough about the instructors at this school. Everyday he has something wonderful to say about one of the teachers and it's always someone different the following day. They are warm and calming figures in a very active, hands on, and busy classroom. I have never seen people that enjoy their work more than at this school. Lastly, they keep the parents updated on the student progress whether that is understanding the complex math or speed and accuracy of reading and comprehension. The only way to really get a feel for this school is to come check it out in person.

We love Long-view! The environment is engaging yet comfortable and the teachers are always helpful and communicative. Our 8 year old daughter has catapulted well past the long division on which she had been working -- and, best of all, she is loving it. She has started to look at numbers in a fundamentally different way and finds the 2 hour block of mathematics fun and challenging. When we add in the science, coding, writing and reading instruction that she is given at the school, we just couldn't be happier. It's an amazing school!

LongView Learning Lab doesn't disappoint. Being a new school, we were a little concerned that it was too good to be true but they have impressed us again and again this first semester. The teachers think outside of the box and provide an amazing education for their students. The kids are engaged and excited about learning. They're not expected to sit still and memorize things, they are expected to learn and it is a breath of fresh air to see them rise to the challenge. If you are looking for an inspiring educational environment for your child check out LongView!
