We have loved BCE and the community here. We have two boys here, and they are doing quite well. One is in the GT program and Spanish immersion. He struggles more with SEL topics than with academic ones. The teachers are aware of that and work to find ways for him to grow in that area. Our other child is median on academics but finds getting along with others really easy. His teachers help to stretch him academically and to encourage growth in areas he can just do better by simply trying a little harder (he's so easy-going!). The current principal is not our favorite unfortunately :( She's OK, but we are aware of one time she actively discouraged a teacher that was a real stand out star from going above and beyond simply because "it makes others look bad". That doesn't seem like strong leadership to me. There's always more to a story though, and she'd probably have her reasons.

Do not trust the teacher/student ratio. Classes go up to 25 students per teacher and higher. Many teachers are right out of college which is not always a bad thing, some are fantastic, but just be aware. The turn over rate seems super high too. If you are basing your decision to move to this area solely on the school, think again! It is not worth the high real estate prices. The district is not as exemplary as the propaganda states. The reason why test scores are so high is because 90% of kids have tutors or are in Kumon starting in Kinder.

We have two kids at BCE, and they both love it. They just returned back to in-person and are so happy to be back and see all their friends. One is in Spanish immersion, the other one started at BCE before they had Spanish immersion (but wish he could have done it, too!). Although different, it seems that they are both getting a quality education. My two kids are very different in terms of educational needs, and I feel like the school has done a great job meeting both of their needs. The teachers have been amazing - very dedicated to getting to know each kid and making them feel supported. For example, among my two kids, we have had three different teachers that have requested extracurricular activity schedules (music, sports, etc.) so they can attend. My kids love that! As far as some of the other reviews on bullying, I'm so sad to hear that. We have not had any kind of experience like that, so can't speak directly to that. Instead, I've felt that BCE has tried very hard to encourage inclusiveness. They have "kindness campaigns," buddy benches at recess, and other very organized and thoughtful programs to encourage the kids to be nice to each other.

The teachers have been very average for calling themselves an "Eanes" school. We initially had issues with bullying which they addressed nicely , however, our child seems to be using a lot of iPad instead of actually using paper/pencil. They continuously state that their screen time is restricted but we di not see paperwork come home or the child learning anything new at school. If at all, all the skills that were acquired at a previous district (rated lower) have been lost and we are struggling to get back to where we started off. Overall, very disappointing!

This school is terrible. The new principal that started in 2017-2018 is useless. Our oldest son was bullied the entire year physically by another student in his class and the principal never got involved at all. Our son's teachers and the counselors had meetings with our son and my family but nothing was ever done. They would not facilitate a meeting between the bully's family and ours to try and solve the issue so nothing ever changed. Our son was assaulted by the bully twice on the last day of school in front of his mom and because his mom stood up for him and told the bully to knock it off, our son was kicked out of the school since we were a transfer family. Transfers are treated differently and they just want to brush bullying under the rug so it doesn't tarnish their "perfect" image in Eanes. If you take out of district transfers, treat them the same as in-district students, not differently. If I could rate this school and district a negative number, I would because they are despicable and pathetic.

Barton Creek Elementary is fantastic! I have a child finishing first grade and second grade this year. They have wonderful activities during the year that allow each child to be pushed to succeed and think about of the box and independently. I have been impressed with Blue Jay Singers and the music teacher goes above and beyond offering the chlidrens multiple venues to perform and be in front. Both my children are now loving being on stage and performing which is something I never believed could happen (especially when my son had speech concerns and was quite and shy...now no longer). My children are challenged everyday in their activities in all areas; PE, Arts, Music. I enjoy the principle, staff and families that actively take part in the lives of their children and yours. It takes a village and I have found the village.

This is our first year at Barton Creek Elementary and we have been very fortunate to be involved with the faculty and school community. The teachers are wonderful and send homework home with the Kindergarten class each week. Our child is reading chapter books and explaining graphs using addition and subtraction. All of his classmates seem to be extremely inquisitive and above average for K5 kids. We have been very impressed with our child's progress so far and love the parent involvement at BCE. The entire community (Senna Hills; Barton Creek West; Rob Roy on the Lake: and others) is involved with the BCE carnival, family movie nights and many other events, which keep our school community very interconnected.
