Excellent experience with my daughter being there from Pre-K through 2nd grade. The teachers and staff were tremendous. You can see they truly care about the kids.

Incredible. I was terrified of this school due to it's rating, but I could not have been more wrong. A gem of 131, filled with caring and dedicated teachers and administrators. I am proud of this school.

This school needs a complete overhaul, not only aesthetically but staff as well. The teachers are clearly overwhelmed and I tried to be patient and hope that things would improve but in our 2nd year at this school my 3rd grader and kindergartener who both suffer from allergy induced asthma were continuously sick for the first 3 months of school. After numerous visits to the doctor we were unable to find out why they kept feeling sick with breathing problems only to find out in November that the school was inundated in Mold. The school officials were aware of the problem yet never notified parents. The way we were made aware was the school board meeting was held and discussions about the mold were noted by a newspaper reporter. She then wrote an article which was read by a parent who then shared it on Facebook. Once the officials found out about the article there was a notice sent out to parents. We we assured that all days the kids missed while waiting for mold remediation would be excused. In February I received a letter from the truancy office with threats of fines for my kids being absent during that time. I withdrew my kids and homeschooled them until we could move to a new district. They do not have the kids safety and best interest in mind. To allow kids to remain in school with mold and never inform parents for the first 3 months of school tells me that they only care about enrollment for funds. My list of negatives could go on and on but I'm sure this paints a good picture of how terribly this district is.

My daughter has had two amazing teachers Mrs. Lesk for 2nd grade and Mrs. Reed. for third grade. She has made honor roll twice this year and has great study habits. Her art teacher choose one of her art projects in an art show recently which was amazing. OC Allen is a good school. The teachers and staff show they care and put alot of effort into keeping the kids engaged in learning. I believe that its only going to get better because all the efforts are there. It takes a village and being an active parent in your child's academic growth will help make a difference. I say OC Allen is a great school, but it helps to be a great active parent as well!

This school does everything they can with the resources they have. Given a better opportunity and resources the school would thrive.

This school has great potential. I think there is a high percentage of parents who believe the school is solely responsible for the education of their children. Let's step up to the plate.

I was a preschool and kindergarten student here in 2005 and 2006, I'm 12 years old now. I really like Mrs.Potenberg (although I wasn't the best student,) I wish I could keep in contact with my old teachers... but I moved to Alaska 5 years ago. Oh well. -Kelli Anne D.-
