A COMPLETELY TERRIBLE SCHOOL/DISTRICT!!!! There is SERIOUS RACISM and DISCRIMINATION that is rampant and not even Acknowledged by the school district/staff, the fact that it’s not even addressed makes it worse. My daughters ages 7 and 5 had previously been wonderful students that were always so excited and eager to learn, until they were enrolled at John Gates Elementary school. Now they both simply DREAD attending and have started to suddenly act out, PARTICULARLY while at school. I am angry and disappointed in this school. I pray this place hasn't destroyed my daughters love and enthusiasm for learning. Why do I say these things? My daughters are caucasian and are constantly being bullied by both staff and students of the Hispanic ethnicity. The failure of the district/staff to see this type of garbage directed at my daughters speaks volumes about this place. I am currently in the process of removing them from the school and enrolling them elsewhere. I am sickened by John Gates Elementary school and the manner in which they allow this to happen. I GIVE THEM A FAILING GRADE AND DON’T ADVISE ENROLLMENT.

Terrible school. Racism is rampant and not even recognized by staff or addressed. Just moved here with my daughter and grandson. He had previously been an outstanding student that looked forward to school until he enrolled at Gates. Now he simply DREADS attending! Am angry and disappointed in this school. I pray this place hasn't destroyed his love for learning. Why do I say these things? He is white and is a great kid that respects everyone but simply grew depressed at being called "white boy" all the time. The failure of the staff to see this type of garbage directed at my grandson speaks volumes about this place. We are now in process of moving so he can be enrolled in a school that is welcoming and not racist. Am sickened by Robert Gates school and the manner in which they allow this to happen. I give them a failing grade

Let me start by saying that my son went her from kinder thru 5th grade. He had great teachers every year, but it also has to do with you as a parent to help your child get thru the school year. There are always going to be distractions and some of the staff that is not so great. I do have to say that once the new principal started running the school , things have improved very much. ty ms carrillo.

The Teachers truly care about the welfare of the students. They listen and hear what the students are saying - allowing the Teachers to better educate the students. Whenever I'm volunteering at the school I see nothing but smiling faces and bright eyes

I don't know how the school is now but when I went there, in the late 80's early 90's, it was one the best experiences a kid could have. I'm sure most of my teachers have retired but I do miss them, especially Mrs. Osborne, wonderful woman who cared deeply about each and every student. If the teachers there today are anything like she was back then, the kids are in great hands

Gates School has everything necessary to be a great school: excellent teachers, strong leadership and challenging academics. We also have great extra curricular and after school programs as well as providing for any and all needs of our students. The staff at Gates cares deeply for our children. I should know, I teacher there.
