This is a (and always has been) a wonderfull school! However I cant say the same for USD 437 as a whole. Auburn & Pualine are always the first ones to suffer when it comes to budget cuts because this district seems to focus more on the "richer" elementary schools & the High School. Auburn is so understaffed when it comes to special education that they dont have the resources to handle a child who doesnt fit into the "one size fits all" expectations of this district. The teachers are so pressed for time to rush through the new cirriculum which is hurting the children who may not understand or get stuck on certian subjects. These children are then being punished by having the little time they do get for recess taken away so they can finish their work & meet up to the state & district expectations.

We have had great experiences at Auburn Elementary. Two of my three children currently attend, we have had Mrs. Sanders (K), Mrs. Norton (1st but no longer teacher), Mrs. Johnston (2nd), and Mrs. Tenbrink (3rd) so far, all have been great. Our kids don't get in much trouble so can't say much about how they handle discipline. Most teachers are part of the community and you will run into them around town (only 1,200 people in Auburn so it's not hard). Some classes have SmartBoards for a little extra Technology. Just a good all around school, and a main reason why we are still in the Auburn area and if we do move we will stay in the district. Have heard good things about the Middle and High Schools as well, but haven't experienced them yet.

Auburn Elementary School has a great staff and an active PTO. It is located in a small, caring community and could really use the extra financial support!
