Fantastic school community. We love that our son has teacher teams in 6th grade. They are awesome! The academics are quite good and the after school activities are varied and fun. One of the best aspects is the school/home communication -- top notch. I was apprehensive, initially, to send my son here, because lets face it...middle school is a crazy age. But after six months I can honestly say it is great here. Facilities are the best around; the counselor and administration are visible and helpful. Great school.

Love it here because teachers care about finding new ways to help students learn. They facilitate and aren't afraid to try new things. Very innovative.

I have a student with a pretty extensive IEP and academic and behavioral accommodations. Last year was our first year in Atascadero and I was a bit concerned about making a switch in 7th grade. We have NEVER had a better experience!!! The staff are amazing. Teachers have been so kind and willing to help him achieve his very best. The administration are phenomenal as well. They have made this such a great experience for us both. I also have to say that the student body is also pretty special. It hasn't been without typical ups and downs of junior high but making friends has been so easy and generally the students are very respectful of each other.

Atascadero School is Awesome. I am not sure why other reviews fall short. The teachers work hard and are in tune with what is best for all students. My children love the activities, sports, and academics. Saints Block is a time each day for students to receive help or choose an enrichment activity: guitar, drama, computers, extra PE, and much more. This is in addition to their regular elective. There are advanced courses for students in Math, Language, Computers, Art, Drama, Vocal Arts, and I am sure I am missing some. My daughter loved the track team.

Love This School!!! Principal (2013/2014,) Lori Thomas-Hicks, is very good. The staff is excellent seemingly all are very dedicated; at least all my children have felt so. The Leadership Class on campus has so many well thought out fun activities.

Love It. Give it 5+ Stars. Atascadero Junior High is dedicated to helping all students and making sure all students feel safe, secure, and included. Mr. Martin is the best teacher EVER; really changed things around for my child. The new Saint's Block program gives students a needed break to do something fun OR to receive extra help every day. The parent program is run well. I was able to offer to help and get involved very easily. The school's electronic newsletter keeps me informed. The Aeries system for grading keeps me up to date.

Every single student I asked about their experiences at AJHS gave it glowing reviews. From talking about their teachers to the overall feel of the school, all these kids loved their time here. Now my child is half way through the first year and having the same kind of experiences. Great teachers, nice kids, cool classes...hooray to AJHS for making middle school a positive place for our kids!!

From experiance of many yrs; this middle school has contributed to the challenge's of many wonderful and gifted students. The leading administration continues to decline. There is only a handful of compassionate, understanding instructor's that are giving their all in making a difference in the life's of all students struggling or not. Parents' if your wanting to make a meaningful difference in your precious childs educational experiance this would not be a school of choice. Our family chose North County Christian School, and our children have excelled in all areas! Most important Is that each student is accepted for who they were created to be. The intructor's are gifted mentor's, as well.
