I have had 4 children attend this school and it has consistently been an amazing experience. Some teachers are better than others which is true of any school but the leadership is top notch.

Teachers care. Parents care. Students are set up for success with all aspects of staff.

Overall it has been okay due to special circumstances. I appreciate the effort in developing a culture, and feel overall the experience is probably better than what I had as a child. I wish communication and access as parent was better, but this may be LCPS versus the actual school's doing.

We have two sons at DTES and we’re very happy with the school. I can (and will) tell you all about why I love the school, but the most important thing that is the greatest measure of any school is this: are the kids happy there? Mine are. They feel happy, they feel supported, they are excited and eager to go to school and learn, they make friends and feel treated with respect by the students and staff. The school climate fosters academic as well as social growth and my kids are learning to be resilient, independent, and responsible. They are also learning how to critically think, create real products for authentic audiences, and take responsibility for themselves. They learn to read, write, and do math -- but they also have great a library, music, art, and PE curriculum. But the staff is also involved beyond the classroom. The principal greets every student in the car line by name almost every day which helps set a great tone for the day, the teachers come together every year to create a fantastic STEM based science night where the kids get to learn coding, aerodynamics, and robotics...I could go on and on about all the work the staff does outside of the 8-3 school day to make the school great. But my favorite thing about the school is the neighborhood. I know all my neighbors and their kids. We play together on the playground after school. We see each other on the walking path in the morning on the way to school. We know each other. And we help each other. We are a village. And this is our village school. We love it!

We have been part of the DTES family for the past 6 years. It has been an amazing experience. Both of my children love school. They feel safe and special walking into the building everyday. I love that the school has become a more diverse environment over the last 6 years. Not only do my children learn school skills, but they learn life skills. The administration is the best I’ve seen.

We were rezoned to DTES from Ashburn Elementary two years ago, at first we were unhappy about switching schools, until we visited the school. We quickly realized this school is a completely different environment, the whole school feels like a family/community. The principal is energetic and outgoing. Teachers are engaged and have made both of my kids love going to school. Getting rezoned to Dominion Trail has turned out to be amazing for my children's education.

This is my child's first year at Dominion Trail. She's in first grade. We have had nothing but a positive experience with her teacher, the administration, and the environment. My child comes home happy and explains things she's learned that amaze us. The emphasis on reading has been great and she now reads chapter books with ease and excitement. Overall, I am very happy with the full package DTES offers and look forward to what second grade might bring for my kid.

Both of my sons attended DTES from K-5 (oldest is now in HS). School administration changed a couple of years ago and the results have been phenomenal. The kids feel more connected to the school and more comfortable with the administration. The new teachers have had a great impact on the learning environment. We've been very happy with the level of support and involvement from the teachers. The projects are appropriately challenging - even for gifted learners. I do wish some of these changes had happened when my oldest was still there, but am please that my youngest has benefited from some very positive developments.

I have been involved with DTES for 2 years, going into the 3rd year now. I'm impressed with the quality of education offered! The staff is amazing and friendly! I can't wait util all 4 of my children are in school we are a very proud DTES family! The PTA here is amazing. They are very involved and host a lot of events throughout the year. The PTA raised enough money to buy iPads last year!! While there are complaints and concerns of bullying, I haven't witnessed any serious issues and the issues that have come up are dealt with accordingly!

Everything in the school is great and the teachers are friendly but I DO NOT RECOMMEND this school to ANYONE because they don't focus on your subjects and when you go ask them what they missed, they don't answer you. there are lots of BULLY in school and they bother you and make fun of you.

Dominion Trial is a wonderful school with a supportive environment for kids with special needs and those in regular classroom. The leadership recently changed this year and the morale is wonderful. Teachers are innovative and support kids in learning and meeting goals. There is a very active PTA organization and various after-school enrichment programs that enhance what is taught in the classroom! I couldn't;t ask for a more committed dedicated staff. The school is located in Ashburn Village and is a must for anyone relocating to Northern Virginia.....
