This schools learning environment was definitely not the best.

Pretty good school, kids are lucky to go here. It can be kind of boring but I suppose that’s good. Parents complain too much about everything. Lacks diversity, but there’s nothing the school can do about it since it is a neighborhood school. Some kids grow up sheltered and don’t understand things, but otherwise this school has good classes, mostly good teachers, and a good community.

This school focuses a lot on academics. They want to make sure everyone is up to their standards. Students are often publicly criticized which later leads to ridicule by their peers. Kids at this school do drugs in the bathroom, fight on the soccer field, cry over their test scores, and most recently get ranked on social media. The school can't control what kids post but the account that ranked 8th grade girls was using the schools name. So far the school has done nothing to find this person or speak with the girls on this list to make sure they're ok. This school is great if you want your kid to take advanced classes but just understand that a lot more goes on at this school.

Nice school, building isn’t in the best state but most people are friendly. Good curriculum and pretty easy to get good grades.

Overall, I give WMS a B+. My kids are doing well there and most of the teachers are excellent.

Pretty bad, way below par for an APS school. Terrible principal, the school building is in very rough shape with a clear lack of attention to basic maintenance, sooo overcrowded. Kids get lost.

To date, we have had an excellent experience at WMS. The building is in tough shape but it's just a building - the teachers and staff are what make it a special place.

My son is learning a lot at Williamsburg and also loves some of the extracurricular activities. Band has been a particularly excellent experience. The overcrowding is a big issue, though, and leads to a variety of problems beyond just logistical ones.

My child spent 3 years at WMS and had overall a very positive experience. The band program was well run. Most of the teachers are okay to good. Some exceptional and some sub par though. The overcrowding is a huge issue here as it is in many of the APS schools. In 8th grade the kids mostly carried all their books in their backpacks as there wasn't time to go to their lockers which were far from the trailers. Overcrowding will be an issue for a few more years until a new middle school is built. The kids are generally well behaved. Kids spend too much time on cell phones and Ipads for non educational reasons. This is a problem though in all APS Middle and High schools.

We have an eight grader at Williamsburg, now in his third year there, and our experience has been very good. The teachers have been excellent, and the individual attention impressive given the large size of the student body. We like the principal, vice principal and staff, all of whom are very committed to the students. We are pleased.

This school has an amazing Principal! The staff is very good. They have amazing Assistant Principals, yes , each grade has their own who stays with them and gets to know them as the progress through middle school. The draw back can be how large the school is. It seems like they are busting at the seems. Lunch time can have really long lines and most items depleted before your kid reaches the food. So, plan on bringing lunch. Aside from that course offerings are good, and you can expect a stellar education. As with any school there are some staff hits and misses but overall , it's a pretty good school to be associated with.

This is my kid's first year at Williamsburg. Coming from some of the best schools in Fairfax county I can say that Williamsburg is not even close to the quality of the other schools. The principal has no leadership and doesn't do any effort to be out there for the kids and parents. I have never seen her in person, not on back to school night, not during parent-teacher conferences not even once on the hallways. In Fairfax, the principals are out there every morning greeting the students and parents, reaching out, making a statement that they are involved and they care. Our counselor is not good either. She is not responsive and has no communication skills. Thre seems to be a disconnect in the leadership at this school, a lot of new people who still don't know what they are doing and people that should have retired a long time ago. I was recently told, in response to a question, to call the high school my kid will attend next year because that person will retire in the summer and no one at Williamsburg was trained to do her job. The core subject teachers are great though and that is the only good thing I can say about this school.

An outstanding school, with caring teachers and a great community. Special Ed as well as regular ed was handled great. The post below mentions the band program, and I want to say that the new band teacher (2011-2012) has completely turned around that program and it is now fantastic. It takes a special person to run middle school band and he has done a great job!
