St. John is on a downslide. Principal Busakruz "left" and is being replaced. Many people are pulling their kids out. Our child had a bad experience in 3rd grade when the teacher dropped out due to pregnancy. There was a substitute that was horrible for a few months. Finally she was replaced with a teacher that Mrs. G that did a fair job but was regarded by the students as having favorites. She then taught the same group of students for the following year and the favorite situation was even more pronounced. We had to pull our child due to poor standardized test scores. I hope the school can rebuild.

We had no intention of moving to VA but after visiting St. John, we took the chance and moved here. St. John became my children's second home. We find the school community to be very caring and loving. They look forward to going to school 99% of the time :-) I find that in order to help your children be the best they can be, as a parent, I also need to act not just as their friend BUT as a parent and a teacher.

St John Academy is a wonderful school with a GREAT middle school! The teachers are very interested in helping each child succeed. The headmaster is Mr. Busekrus who is a wonderful, kind dedicated leader that is part of this special community. Hs is certainly no zealot---sounds like sour grapes from the other reviewer. Yes, this is a catholic school---so we have prayers, religion class and faith. It is a wonderful community!

This school used to be amazing! I wholeheartedly agreed with the reviews below. However, we recently received a new headmaster who didn't make the bar in my opinion. He is a religious zealot who places religion over education in a SCHOOL. Teachers have also left and follow headmasters philosophy. Middle school is much worse then others in the area.
