If you move to this area, please do not enroll your child in this school. My child went there this past school year and he hated going to this school. He got bullied and majority of the staff are rude. They do nothing to stop the bullying. The principal is trying to improve the school. However, I’ve told her multiple times it starts with cleaning out her staff. Again, sending a clear warning do not enroll your child here. Thankfully I moved 4 hrs away and my son will not have to return to Sherrod.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!My child came home today and they said "I can't wear anymore jackets AND BACKPACKS" At first i thought "He's joking right?" BUT NO What type of school does this?

I’m not sure if it’s the culture, AA, here at this school but parental involvement is severely lacking and is an injustice to the kids and staff. Parents don’t lift a finger to get involved yet the minute their precious child causes any issues they get all up in arms and shift the blame on everyone but their own kid. The reviews about poor admin and the supposed bullying is a figment of their imagination and furthermore the parent of that “innocent kid who was being bullied” has a no trespass order at another school AND her kid has been highly encouraged to seek alternative education due to the high number of violent incidents he’s caused. Case in point, this school is going places and I’d highly recommend it to anyone seeking proactive and caring staff.

Aside from the new assistant principal being super rude at drop off this morning to the point I took my child home. 0 out of 10 do not recommend HER. The school is just ok. My daughter seems ok with it and a lot of the staff I have known for years and are very friendly, they particularly were there when my youngest passed away a few years ago, which I appreciate. The school has gone through countless principals, it seems there’s a new one almost every time I go in there. And events/pickups/dropoffs can be kind of chaotic. And while some faculty is great, there are others that are questionable. All in all, the 1 star is for my interaction w/ the AP this morning, otherwise it would’ve been 2.5-3 stars.

After seeing a child with a severe head wound and to then hear that the school did nothing to protect that child is infuriating.

I have two kids that go to Sherrod elementary, 1st and 5th grade. We came from another school district and let me say that I was very nervous about uprooting my kids from their old school. Once I got to meet their teachers at Sherrod my nerves were put to ease. Both of their teachers were absolutely fantastic about communicating with me throughout the school year about their academics, behavior, anything else that came up. I am single mom and do the best I can to be as involved as I can be but let me say that when I would visit the school I would see parents talk down to the staff about silly things that were of no fault of the school. This school has a lot of great teachers that care and go way beyond for the kids. Parents need to stop complaining and get involved period.

Over all I will say my children love this school and their teachers. After reading several parent reviews I have agreements on positives and negatives. The teachers seem to really care and for the most part the office staff are pleasant to interact with. I've only met one person there who I dread interacting with. There are a LOT of great clubs and programs at this school. We are always getting flyers and updates on parent/family events or programs the kids can participate in. The pick up system is impressive, it is one of the most thorough I've seen and the number of staff who make sure kids make it home okay is much appreciated! I do wish the school used more technology and didn't try to do so much paper sending through the children. I also feel like there are flaws in the amount of information parents receive about school work and what the children need to be working on. I have received papers that say projects are being done one way and then told it is now being done a different way. There are also a lot of projects that require additional supplies to be purchased which we can do but I could see would be difficult for other families. I also feel like this isn't a "community school" but primarily because of the other families. I tried volunteering a few times and had very negative experiences because of other parents. I have witnessed the staff being treated poorly and feel like I have had less than pleasant experiences with the school because of how they are used to interacting with people.

If you have something negative to post about this school, I have two words for you....Get Involved! The more you spend time up at the school helping and trying to make a difference, the more you will discover just how kind, caring, and wonderful the teachers and staff at Sherrod are everyday. My sons have had an amazing experience at Sherrod. My third grade son loves all the after school clubs and my youngest thrived this year with his amazing kindergarten teacher. There is no perfect school and as a parent it is your privilege and opportunity to make your school better. Don't complain...jump in and help. I have heard so many parents mistreating the office staff at Sherrod this year. It was appalling to hear these caring individuals treated like dirt. It's time for parents to stop being a part of the problem. If you think teachers and administrator are there for the money, then you are crazy. They are there because they love our kids. They could get paid much better somewhere else.

This school is not great about handling bullying. The principle at this school is a great actor. He put on a smile everyday. The smile is fake my child was verbally Abusied by this so call "great man". I don't recommend this school. Not a friendly school. You can tell when people are there for the kids and you can also tell when people are there for the money.

My son is 5 years old and he is kindergarden, his teacher is Mrs. Johnston, and she is fabulous, she really cares about her kids. My son loves his school!!!

My daughter barely started school a few days ago and it has already been a bad experience. I told the teacher on the 1st day that she would go to the on-sight daycare afterschool and asked what forms to fill out. I did so. My family gets a call at the end of the day from the daycare saying she never showed and they don't know where she is. We come to find out that she was in the cafeteria because "they (teacher) didn't know where she was supposed to go." After the end of the third day at school, we get an automated message saying my child has an unexcused absence. She has been there every day this week. Not possible. Fourth day into school, they still don't have an account number for her so that I can put her lunch money into. At first I was giving them the benefit of doubt when I saw they had a 2/10 rating. I figured maybe its just that most of the parents don't care and are not involved and that's why they may have a low score. Now, I am realizing that its just as much the school than the parents. Big disappointment so far. Definitely looking into moving elsewhere.

I would have to agree with the last parent, my husband and I both have good income, but you do feel as though they think everyone is poor. The kids are rough , my son had a hard time with that. Counselors are good. There are some really good teachers that care , I just wish it was truly a neighborhood school And it is not . It wasn't a good fit for us , but it may work for you

NtThis school is okay its nothing to brag about..There are a couple of good teachers just a couple..I can't wait to move so I can transfer my kid s..Ms.Johnson is a very good teacher it's not too many at the school like her.. My household makes about 90,000 a year and when I go to the school they look at you like your poor. I have heard crazy stories about this school..My kids been honor students since they have been attending school and soon as I transferred them they grades dropped dramatically . There are a lot of ghetto kids at this school.I
